Pursuant to call of the Mayor the City Council meet in special session as a canvassing board to canvass return of the General City Election held on April 2nd, 1917, at the Clerk's office in Laurel, Montana, at 8 P.M. The meeting was called to order by the Flayor. The following Alderman were present; Lamb, Horen, Davis, Hannar, Jacobs and Dix. Reading of minutes of previous meeting dispensed with. The Clerk was instructed to open returns of the City Election held April 2nd, 1917 in the City of Laurel for the purpose of electing a Mayor, Treasurer, Police Judge and an Alderman in each of the three wards. After having canvassed said returns of said election, the Council found thefollowing to be a true and correct return. Mayor -- First Ward. B. L. Price received 36 votes. E. W. Hannar received 26 votes. Alderman -- First Ward. C. R. Ryan received 36 votes. Wm. Jacobs received 25 votes. Police Judge --First `lard. W. L. G. Unger received 43 votes. Geo. Hudson received 15 votes. Treasurer -- First Ward - - - - - - - - - Geo. Settergren received 44 votes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mayor -- Second Ward B. L. Price received 63 votes. E. W. Hannar received 31 votes. Alderman -- Second Ward Reese Price received 77 votes. C. H. Horen received 1 vote. E. L. Felton received 1 vote. Polic-e Judge - Second Ward W. L. G. Unger received 53 votes. Geo. Hudson received 36 votes. Treasurer -- Second Ward - - - - - - - - - Geo..Settergren received 72 votes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mayor -- Third Ward. B. L. Price received 48 votes. E. W. Hannar received 48 votes. Alderman -- Third Ward Dan Foley received 37 votes. Chas. Davis received 50 votes. Police Judge - Third IVard W. L. G. Unger received 47 votes. Geo. Hudson received 45 votes. Treasurer -- Third Ward Geo. Settergren received 78 votes. A motion was duly made, seconded and carried that B. L. Price be declared elected mayor; that C. R. Ryan be declared elected Alder- man of the First Ward; Reese Price alderman of the second ward; Chas. Davis Alderman of the Third Iffard; that 4. L. G. Unger be declared elected Police Judge and that Geo, E. Settergren be declared elected Treasurer, as shown by canvass of election returns, and that the Clerk be instructed to issue certificates of election to the above named persons. The Mayor appointed the following named persons Judges and Clerks to serve at the Special Taxpayers Election to be held April 23, 1917. First Ward - Judges- W. E. Taylor, Mrs. W. H. Gill & Mrs. J. Phillips. Clerks- Mrs. A. S. Erb.and Frances Burla. Second Ward- Judges- E. L. Fenton, Mrs. M. R. Walton & Mrs. Darrow. Clerks- Minnie Standen & Beatrice McNeill. Third Ward - Judges- Nancy Anderson, Neal Corson & M. H. Lanphear. Clerks- Jennette Schneider & Mrs. Bert Shadle. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried the above appointments were approved.
