The City Council met in regular session at the Council Chamber in City Hall at 8 o' clock P. `1. The meeting was called t.- order by the 1.1ayor. The following aldermen were present; Price, Davis, McCauley, Gill, Ahlstrom and Alden. The minutes of the two previous meetings 14liere read and approved. Reports of the Chief of Poliod and the Police Judge for the months of Feburary and April were read and upon motion made, seconded and carried were aprnved. -'�,eports of the City Treasurer for the months of Febu2ary, .1.1arch and April were read and upon motion made, seconded and carried were approved. Letter from the Sta-e Examiner read and u -,on motion made, seconded and carried was ordered placed on file. Letters from the State Board of Health and from the State Board of Defense were read and upon motion., made, seconded and carried were ordered placed on file. This being the time to open bids for the installing of Lighting District f7ll, the Clerk was in structed to open the only bid submitted, that of the '11-ontana flower r"Mnrip-any. The bid of this Ccmapn y was Y'4784.00. 'Notion made by Price and seconded by 11,11c(-Ja,uley that the bid of the I'lontana Power Co be accepted and the contract a-xardedt o them and that the Ylayor and the City Clerk be authorized to enter into a written contract in accordance with ordinance r 154. Upon roll call the vote stood as follows; Ayes; Price,, LIcCauley, Davis, Gill, Ahlstrom and Alden. Nay; No. Absent; hone. The same being the unanious.consent of the Council present. Petition asking that an Improvement District be created for the purpose of building a cement walk and curbing on the East side of Block 16 and the west side L of Block 15 in the Laurel Realty 2nd Sub was refered to the Steet- and Alley Com'..-,ittee. The I-Tayor appointed JMr-. Jordan to the office of City Clerk et 1 -Vater Com-...issioner and Sam, Turner as assistant. Motion made, , seconded and carried tliat these appoitments be ratified. �' Ir iviotion made, seconded and carried :that Reece Price be elected President of the Council for tlie ensuing year. The 11,111ayor appointed Geo. W. Graff., C. E. Sande and I'Irs. T. A. Rigney to act as the Library Board. Motion made, seconded and carried that -04111,i the action of the T,,Iayo:-.- be ratified. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel (2) T otion made, seconded and carried that the Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids on the following crossings; Hotion made, seconded `"nd carried that the salary of the Chief of Police be increased 120.001 per month. Rayor appointed F. 7, Quinn, Chief of Police for the ensuing year at a salary of Q85.00 ;ger month. Hoti-n made, seconded and carried that the action of the Hayor in this appointment be ratified. Notion zmade, secondsd and carried that the City '>-Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids for a combination Grader and oscarifier for use on the City Streets. got ion made, seconded and carried that the _iontana Power Co be granted a ten days extension in which to procure a Dend covering their contract. .lotion made, seconded and carried that Recce Price be appointed Chief of the Fire Department for the ensuing year. Notion mad., seconded and carried that the Clerk be authorized to advertise for bids on Sprinkling the streets in Sprinkling District 11, bids to be submitted on work by the day.
