The City Council met in regular session at the Council Chamber in the City 'mall at 8 o'clock P. 11. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor. The following aldermen were present; rannar, Price, Dix and T amb . The minutes of the previous meeting was r ad and approved. Motion made, seconded and carried that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to fill out interest coupons on Bonds numbered 12, 13, 14,15,,10 and 11 issued Sept 60th, 1914 called Special Improvement No. 8 District Bonds. Ordinance-IrL/�S-oonsolidating t -he office of City Clerk and Tater Commissioner was read and upon motion made, seconded and carried was refered to the ordinance cor..niittee and said comr:ittee was requested to report at once. _ Motion made by Price and seconded by Dix that Ordinance '016be pmt upon its passage at t, is regular meeting without r Terence. Jpon roll call the vote stood as follows; Ayes; Price, Hannar, Larx:b and Dix. Nay; None Absent; Davis. The same being the unanimous consent of the Council present. ��� be plotion made by Lamb and seconded by Hannar that Ordinance assed and adapted as read. Upon roll call the vote stood as follows; Ayes; Price, Larrb, Hannar �7-nd Dix Play; No Absent; Davis. R. E. Coy, al gr of the Mountain States T. &. T. Co came before the Council in beh-lf of the Company he represents, asking that the rates of the telephones novo used by the City be standardized., Lotion made, seconded and carried that the Phone in the Council Chamber and the extention at the Pump H ouse be taken out and the Phone in the City Clerk & Water Conrissioner's office and Prim House be continued as one party lines at the standard rates and the Mayor be authorized to sign the Contract. The City Clerk was instructed to open returns of the City Election held April 1st, 1918 in the City of Laurel for the purpose of electing an alderman in each of the three JTards. After having canvassed said returns of said election, the Council found the following to be a true and correct return. Alderman First Ward Geo. R. Alden received 17 votes. Alderman Second Ward L. H. Ahlstrom received 25 votes. Alderman Third Ward J. ,,. Dix received three votes D. H. 1:511cCauley received 24 votes. A motion was duly Made, seconded and carried that Geo. R. Alden be declared elected Alderman of the First Ward; L. H. Ahlstrom alderman of the Second vVard; D. �L. McCauley alderman of the Third Ward, as shown by canvass of election returns, and that the City Clerk be instructed to issue certificates of election to the above named persons.
