Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
August 27, 1919.
Pursuant to adjournment the Council met in the Council
Chamber of the City Hall, City of Laurel, Montana, and Was called to
order at 9 o'clock P.M. by Mayor Davis.
The following aldermen were present at roll call a Sande,
Morris, Kenyon and Ahlstrom. The Clerk announced a quorum present.
The matter of extending the water intake was taken tap.
Mr. Hastings of the Security Bridge Company, having been asked by the
City Engineer and the Water Commissioner to submit an estimate on
the probable cost of the extension at this time, was present, and stated
to the Council that he was unable at this date to submit such an estimate,
but would be able to do so in a short time. By unanimous vote of the
Council this matter was laid on the table until such time as more defi-
nite information as to the plan of construction and probable cost of the
extension could be obtained.
A petition signed by 0. M. mold, C. B. Sande, Laurel State
Bank, Citizens National Bank, D. H. McCauley and E. L. Fenton, asking
that a special improvement district be created for the purpose of grad-
ing and paving with bitVulithic type of pavement ,that part of First
Avenue North between Main Street and First Street* was presented and
read. A motion was made by 41derman Morris, seconded by Alderman Ken-
yon that the petition be granted. Motion carried.
An application for permit to make excavations and openings
in the street, sidewalks and alley around Lot One of Block One, Laurel
Realty Subdivision to the Townsite of East Laurel,was submitted by Mr.
R. 77. Hageter. A motion was made by Alderman Kenyon, seconded by Al-
derman Sande t.-iat the permit be granted. motion carried.
Final estimate for the construction of improvements in
Improvement District No. 26 was presented and read. Motion was made by
Alderman Ahlstrom, seconded by Alderman Kenyon that the estimate be al-
lowed, and that the Mayor and Clerk issue bonds as provided for in
Ordinance No. 177 in payment of same. Motion Carried.
Final estimate for the construction of impr+gvements in
Improvement District No. 27 was presented and read. Motion was made by
Alderman Kenyon,seconded by Alderman Morris, that the estimate be al-
lowed, and that the Mayor and Clerk issue bonds as provided for in
Ordinance No. 179 in payment of same. Motion carried.
Final estimate for the construction of improvements in
Improvement District No. 29 was presented and read. Motion was made by
Alderman Sande, seconded by Alderman Ahlstrom, that the estimate be
allowed, and that the Mayor and Clerk issue bonds as provided for in
Ordinance No. 179 in payment t of same. Motion carried.
Final estimate for the construction of improv= nts in
Improvement District No. 31 was presented and read. Motion was made by
Alderman Sande,seconded by Alderman Kenyon, that the estimate be al-
lowed, and that the Mayor and Clerk issue bonds as provided for in
Ordinance No. 190 in payment of same. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Alderman Sande, seconded by Alder-
man Kenyon that we do now adjourn until Saturday night, August 30th,
at 8 o'clock P. M. Motion carried.
