Laurel, June 24th, 1919.
The Council met in adjourned regular session, in the Council Cham-
ber, City Hall at 8 o'clock, P.M. and was called to order by Mayor
Davis. Aldermen present on roll call, Morris, Alden, Kenyon and
Ahlstrom. The Clerk announced a quorum present.
The minutes of the meetings held June 3rd and June 17th were #3
read and on motion duly made seconded and carried were adopted as
read.
The application of Chas. J. Wulff for permit and license to
open and operate a public membership club room in the second story of
the Valek building , was presente& and read, and on motion of Alder-
man Vlorris seconded by Alderma]h Ahlstrom this matter was laid on
the table until the next meeting.
Petition for an extension of the water mains in South Laurel
signed by 1��rs. Mary hrichael and 11 other property owners on Wood-
land Avenue was presented and read , and on motion duly made sae-
onded and carried was referred to the abater and Sewer Committee
for investigation.
This being the time and place for the receiving of bids on
Special Improvement Districts Nos. 29, 30, 12, 33, 34, and 35, the
bids of The 2 Miracle Concrete Corporation. McLaughlin and O'Neil,
T.G.Stimatz and Platz and Andrews, being all the bids received, were
opened and read. Same were referred to the Street and alley Commit-
tee and the City Engineer, who reported back after due consideration,
recomending that the contracts for -the construction of the improve-
ments in Districts No. 29, 30, 32133.34 and 35 be awarded �#V T.G.
Stimatz.
Moved by Alterman Ahlstrom and seconded by Alderman Morris that
the bid of The 2 Miracle Concrete Corporation be rejected, on account
of its not conforming to the notices inviting proposals, carried.
Upon the reading of the Committees�J�-_ reports on the
bids,:,on each 6f Districts 29.30..32,33,34 and 35 a motion was made by
Alderman nenyon and seconded by Uderman Morris, that same be adopted
as read, a vote was thereupon taken and said motion was a una.n4
1 ously carried.
This being the time and place for the receiving of bids for
Special ImprovementsDistricts Nos. 26, 28, and 31, the bids of the
Security Bridge Co., being the only ones received were opened and rea
Same were referred to thy Water and Sewer Committee and the City En-
gineer, who reported back after due consideration, recomending that t
the contracts for Districts Nos. 25,28 and 31 be awarded to the
Security Bridge Co., as per bids submitted. Moved by Alderman Kenyon
and seconded by Alderman Alden, that the report of the Committee be
adopted. Motion carried.
This being the time and place for the receiving of bids for
tapping the City Water Mains. the bids of The Laurel Plumbing and
Electrical Co, and W.S.Jones were opened and read, Same were referred
to -the dater and Sewer Committee, who asked for more time in which
to consider samef on motion duly made seconded and carried their
request was granted.
Mr. H. J. Greenway appeared before the Council with a request
for permission to to raise his building one story higher
and license to conduct a Roof Garden Club House style.- Same was
referred to the Ordinance Committee.
First Tuonthly estimate of the Securit;,:- Bridge Co on District
No. 27, amounting to $400.00 was presented. Moved by Alderman Dorris
and seconded by Alderman Ahlstrom, that same be allowed rn I ('_f
The Street paving project being called up, same was referred to
the Street and Alley Committee and the Cit- Engineer, Mr Gill being
absent , Ahlstrom was appointed by the Mayor to take his place on
the Committee.
Resolutions of Intention to create Special Improvement Districts
Nos, 36, 37, and 38 were presented, and same were referred to the
Street and Alley Committee, to be reported on next time the Coun-
cil is in session.
Uoved by Alderman Kenyon and sec6nded by Alderman Dorris that
