The Council met in adjourns session in the Council
Chamber of the City of Laurel and w9re called to order at
eight o' clock P.M. The Islayor being absent, the President of
the Council,Charles Morris,presided as Mayor.
On roll call the following Alderman were present:
Kenyon
Vordahl
Bundy
Knudsen
Sausman
B ro haugh
The minutes of the meeting of October 19th,1920 were
read and on motion duly made and seconded,were approved as
read.
The Clerk read the report of the Chief of Police for
the month of October,1920 which after favorable report by the
Auditing Committee,was approved as read.
A coininunication from the Ball Lumber Company askin# that
the rental upon the tract leased by it from the City be reduced
below ten (? 10.00) dollars per month. After an extended dis-
cussion the Council instructed the Clerk to inform the Hall
Lumber Company that the rental would remain at ten (410.00)
dollars per month,
The report of the 2nd Assistant 6tate xaTiner John
W. :Dawson,was presented and read to the Council by the Clerk,
The Council instructed the Clerk to place the said report on
file in his off ice and the file a copy thereof with the City
Treasurer.
A communication was received from J.L. Watson,Right
of ffay Commissioner of the N.P. Railway Company, touching upon
the City's easement upon and claim to the sixty (60) foot
strip of ground on the south side of main street extending
from lst avenue eastwerdly to alder avenue,being part of the
N.P's orig1n.al right of way,he requested that some definite
action be taken to specifically define the City's interest
in said strip of ground. Upon motion duly made,seconded and
carried the Clerk was instructed to inform Mr. Watson that
a City bffiei.al would meet with an official of the railway
company at the City of Laurel or if the railway company would
furnish transportation,at the City of ST. Paul with a view to
negotiating such an adjustment.
At this point the Council recessed to permit the (Vor Bahl on
Auditing Committee to audit the bills filed for the month (Ault. Comm.
of October,vahich Committee reported back recommending pay-(for 14ageman
ment of the following bills:

It was moved and seconded that the report of the auditing
be accepted and the the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants upon
the proper funds in payment thereof. Motion carried,
Permit to John Darham and others to tap water main in Spe-
cial Improvement District X11 on 5th street where it owasses
Yellowstone Avenue and lay a galvanized iron pipe south along
said avenue 1740 feet and permitting certain persons outside the
City 11mi!tt; the use of water was read and upon motion duly made,
seconded and carried,was approved by the Council.
The City Clerk was instructed to write the County Uommiss-
ioners relative to placing the Intake construction east of the
south pier d9 the county Bridge in the Yellowstone river,asking
them to write him in acquiescence thereof.
DISTRICT NUMBER 48
Ordinance X220 being an ordinance providing for the method
of levy of assessments in spe ci al improvement district 1148 to
pay for the improvements therein constructed was read and refered
to the committee on ordinances. The Committee reported back re-
commending that said ordinance be passed, It was then moved and
seconded that the -report of the Committee be adopted and that
the unanimous consent an&,;-vot6 ,of the Council be had to place
said ordinance upon its i_ mediate passage. Upon roll call all
aldermen present voted "Aye." It was then moved and seconded that
ordinance f220 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call all Aldermen
present voted "Aye" and said ordinacne was declared passed and
adopted.
Ordinance ?E221,being an ordinance providing for the form
of bond,the denomination and issuance thereof to pay for the
improvements in 6pecial Improvement District f 48, was read
and referred to the committee on ordinances. The committee
reported back reemmending that said ordinance be passed.It
was then moved and seconded that the report of the committee
be adopted and that the unanimous consent and vote of the
council be had to place said ordinance upon its immediate
passage. Upon roll call all aldermen present voted "Aye".

and adopted.Upon roll call all aldermen present voted "Aye"
and said ordinance was declared passed and adopted.
it was moved and seconded that the clerk issue to %he
6ecurity Bridge Company 6pecial Improvement District Bonds
in the sum of $1100.00 against the funds of Special, Improvement
Distric t3in conformity with the provisions of Ordinance
#216,be ? t balance due as shown by the City EEn.gineer's
final estimate of the improvements made in said district.
Tdotion was unanimously carried and the clerk so instructed.
The Council discussed
Certain defective walks within& the corporate limits of
the City of Laurel whereupon the Clerk.was instructed to no-
tify all owners of such walks to have same repaired within a
reasonable time,and that upon failure to do so the City would
have the work done and the cost thereof charged to the properly
and collected along with other taxes. ?
