On rotion duly made and seconded. it was moved that the minutes as read be approved., ?Motion carried. Report of the Police Judge for August was read and approved. The report of the Police Judge for July was also approved upon the recommendation of Alderman Xenyon. The clerk then read a petition sip?ned by certain property owners in blocks 5 and 6 in tre Yellowstone Si)udivision requesting an ex-tention of the water ;Mains for two blocks along 'Test Avenue of the said Subdivision. After some deliberation. this petition was referred to the `;;pater Power Committee. with a rec:uest that they report back- at the next regular meeting of the Cou,._cil. `1.'he matter of allowing the N.P. Railway. Twenty- five (4>25.00) Dollars for first ann-Lzal rent". 1 for that tirangulEr portion of the N. P's. right of way, sounded on the north bE- the south line of main street, on the east by the north and south center line of section 9. The request of the Thompson Yards, inc., for permission to build a new lumber yard, was appoved as recommended by the Committee appointed at the last regular meeting of the Council to investigate said request. It was moved and seconded th<,t the clerk write the Thompson Yards, of the Councils actin. Said approval to include the instala.tion of fire h`idrants suitable for adequate protection. It was then Moved and seconded that the report of the Committee above appoint- ed be add.opted. i", otion carried.. It was -moved and. seconded that tile report of the euditing commmittee be approved and that the clerk be instructed to draw warrants upon the proper funds in payment thereof. T.-otion carried. The clerk then read final estimate on District No. 36, handed in by T. L. Rigney , City Eng. ? was referred. by the vl yor to the Street & Alley, an the City Eng. for inspection with direction that their find. ings, if favorable be reported to the clerk so that bonds in payment thereof may be issued. Ordinance 217, providing for the advertisii:ent for sale of the Nutting bonds was read and referred to Committee on Ordinances. After due deliberation the Co.mnittee reported back reco?maending its passage. It was -moved and seconded that VE e report of the committee be adopted and thL=t unanimous consent and vote o the Council be had to place ordinance Eo. 117 upon its immediate passage. Upon roll ca_1 all Aldermen present voted "Aye". .1oti,:n made and seconded that ordinance No. 217 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call all Aldermen presen, voted "Aye" and the said ordinance was declared passed and adopted. Ordinance Do. 218, providing for the receiving of bids and the letting of a contract for the construction of inrprovi.,ients in Special Im Yovment District No. 48 was read and referred to the Co mittee on Ordinances. After due deliberation the committee reported back recom.dnding its passage. it was moved. and seconded that the report of the Com_i?ittee be adopted and that unanimous consent and vote of the council be had. to place Ordinance No 216 upon its immediate passage. Upon roll call all Aldermen present voted "Aye". Notion :Wade _nd seconded that ordinance No. 218 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call all A.lderinen present voted "Aye" and the said ordinance was declared passed and adopted. Ordinance No. 219, providing i'or the purchase of the ITutting dater System, was read and was referred to the Finance and _lurchasing Committee- with direction to report back at this meeting. After due deliberation the Committee reported bac'r recommending its passage . It was -moved and. seconded that the report of the co<<imittee be adopted and that unanimous consent and vote of the Council be had to place ordinance No. 219 upon its immediate passage. Upon roll call all .old. present voted "Aye". and tf:.e said resolution was declared passed and adopted, and Special Improvement District No. 48 created. The matter of Whet'}er or not the City should purchase pipe and material for the installation of the improvements in Special Improvement District No. 48 came up for discussion. The matter was referred by the "ayor to the Committee on Finance and Purchase, w th instruction to report back at the next regular mee;in?. The necessity of employing a traffic cop whose duties it would be to protect the City against excessive speed by motor veichles, was d.iscussev. at considerable length. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the council instructed the Iayor to employ some suitable person as traffic policman. The clerk Elias instructed to notify the owner or owners oif lot 9, boleti 4 of the Laurel Realty Sub- division to East Laurel. to remove the present corcrete wal& now installed in front of said property upon >?;,ga.in St., for the reason that the same is several inches above grade, and unsafe and liable to cause injuries to those using the wall, The owner was to be notified th4-t unless said tirald was removed the City Mould have sarne done and charge the extoence to the property. The Council upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, instructed the clerk to have published in -the next issue of the Out Look, sections 5 and. 6 of attiele 3 of chapter 9, of the City compiled ordinances, relatinp, to the removing of weeds from private property. and to include with. suc'^ publication a notice to the e-f-rect that any person. failing to comply w-i.th the provisions thereof would be dealt with according- to such provisions. An affidavit Was presented to the Council by T. A. Rigney, the City Eng. setting forth that the follow' - ing discribed warrants issued to him as such Eng. for serviced perforned for the City, had been lost or stolen, and req-nesting the City Council to authorise and direct the City Treasurer to enter such warrants as canceled, and to issue others in the place thereof.
