describing the boundaries of said. proposed distrieyt,stating the
general character of the improvements to made therein,£he
approximate estimate of the oust hkereef',the portion of the cost
which it is proposed to have paid by specidl assessments,and
fixing the time when and. the place where the council Will hear
protests against the creation of such district of the making of such
improvemments,was read by the clerk. This resolution was referred
to the committee on ordinances who reported back recommending its
passage and adoption. It was then moved and swe ended that the
repert of the coxmittee be adopted and that the unanimous ve xte

The mayor called the a _tention of the Oou_ncil to
the need of some devise to guard against accidents, at the
railroad crossing on irs t venue, stating that the uonuiiercial
Chamber desired the- City Uouncil and the 1,ia.yor o -b-he City of
Laurel, to apoint a commmittee to act with a 1 jLe._ co anilt-cee
from the Laurel Oor_Znercial Ohar:?l?er, in preseiting -the sane to

devising some method such as gates or otherwise to guard ? gains c

After considerable discussion, it wws moved and
seconded that 0. O. i3-u-ndy, errect a wire web fence vii-th iron

to be used as a temporary, crei:natory, for the purpose of burn-
ing papers packing boxes and other light combust able m-tter
gathered from or accumalated about the business places in the

declared the motion carried.
It was -:loved and seconded that the Clerk procure
purity bond- for the joint office of City Cler,i and .Dater
Commissioner, and that such Bond be in the sum of Zvour `i hous-

Charles ;rzlfy, appeared before the Uouncil, and
made application to lease from the Uity, a site immediately
:`pest of -he Litt' Park on the corner of lain Wit. and first 've.
The same to run for a period of ten (10) years or such time
as may be suitable to the Uouncil, stating that he wised to
construct thereon a building and equipment suitable f-T a
filling station for Gasoline and Uil. Upon motion duly
made seconded, and carried the Uity Engineer and Uity Attorney
were instructed to confer with iir. 'ulff, in the matter of
drafting contract of lease, and a readable discription and
drawing of the building proposed to be e-rec ued. ':he same
to be submitted to the Gouncil for approval. It was then
moved seconded and carried that a committee of three (3)
be apointed to act for the Uovncil, upon the contract to-be
entered into with le_r. iuli-f, and to pass u^pon the plans of
the proposed building. -she contract of lease bet:een ti=e
City of Laurel, and the said Uharles eul_`f to be executed
