The council was called to order t)y !uayor C. T. Davis at the hour of 8: t60 o'clock p.m. City Clerk L?. J. lviedekorn being present. On -roll call the following memoers o± the Oouncil responded to their name: Alderman bu nd;r i -1 ldorriu T, Knudson " Vordahl hageman 8ausman Kenyon--late L- Report of water commissioner was read, and upon motion duly made, seconded, and carried, was placed on file to await the final report oz tie retiring water commissioner. It was moved, seconded, and carried, that the City Attorney create a special improvement district to provide for the installation of such improvement, as may be necessary to connect the ori.Jn.al water system with the hutting syster•.i. The resignations of A. L. Garvey, City Clerk,and J. `. Ib aci )onald, water commissioner be read. it was moved and seconded, that both the said resiviacr.-U- ions be accepted. T'he for-.aer to be effective as of the date, -,u1y 2nd. motion carried. -.rhe iiayor appointed E. J. hiedekorn to fill both the said vacancies. it was moved and aeconded, that the appointment of E. J. iviedekorn be approved.:otion carried. It was duly moved, seconded, and carried that the Council proceed to canvass the returns of the election held on the 3rd. d<iy of July, 1920, upon the cuestion as to whether the City Council should be authorized to increase the indebtedness of the City of Laurel, in the sum of _?,orty one hundred Forty mix and no/100 :Dollars. Upon canvassing the said returns, une votes cast were found to be as follows: First Vlard: Yes 4 1,10 Second Ward: Yes 6 140 Third `1. ard: Yes 4 110 `ourth Jard: Yes 19 .do Whereupon the following resolution was presented and on motion adopted: j f=`RiI 9 ?8, it appears from the canvass of the returns of the election held on the 3rd. day of Duly, 1920, that a majority of the tax payers voting by their ballots designated their approval of the proposition to increase the indebtedness of the City of laurel, in the sum of Forty One Hundred i-orty Six and no/100 T)ollars, and the R esolution No. 193, being a resolution ordering the construction of sidewalk along the 71est side o I?ion-,ana Ave. , between vain St. and First St. _ was read and then rep-erred to the Committee on ordinances. A.??er due deliberation the Committee reported beck recomm- ending that said. resolution be passed. It was moved end seconded. that the report of the Comm,!-'.tee be adopted, and that the unanimous consent and vote of the Council be had to place resolution No. 193 upon its immediate passage. Upon roll call all Aldermen present voted TTAy6" It was then moved and seconded that "resolution No. 193c7 be passed and adopted. On roll call the following named aldermen voted in the affirmative: Bundy, Liorris, iLnudson, Vordanl, hagernan, Sausrnan, L:enyon ivrcotion duly made and seconded, that a committee be appoint- ed to determine the feasibility'of reducing the pressure of the Oity water system. ivotion carried, and the iaayor appointed, Alderman, :Judson, lorris and :Vordahl. The bid of k-eo v. Mikels for constructing sidewalk, curbing, and excavating in the hagter block was read-- . }?he same being as follows: Sidewalk 26¢ per 6q. s't. A.Ligney, iity Eng. the arnount of said estimate being j?678.73. it was moved and seconded that upon filing, 'by the contractor of statement showing, that all outstanding bills for labor and materials had been paid, that the Clerk be instructed to issue bonds to cover. Total sum ffor the said District being, ;2861.68 Estimate iao. 3 of pecial imp. Dist. i?o. was submitted by 1. A. Rigney, City Eng. she amount of the same eras, 4772.10. It is :coved and seconded, that tale Clerk be instructed to issue additional bonds on said District to cover this amount. i,?otion carried. the Clerk then presented the bills riled for the month of rune, and the sar_!e were referred by -che iviayor to the auditing committee with dirrection to them to a,ldit the same and to make report at this meeting.
