Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
February 17th., 1,920.
The City Coun-cil of the City of Laurel, Montana, met
in regular session in th.e' Council Chamber at the City Hall, City
of Laurel, and was called to order at, 9 o'clock P.M. by Mayor
Davis.
The following Aldermen were present at roll call;
Sande,, Morris, Knudson, Vordahl, Ah.lstrom, Alden and Brohaugh,
the clerk announced a quorum present.
The minutes of the last regular session were read,
A motion vias-made by Alderman Sande and seconded by Alderman
Ahlstrom, that the minutes be approved as read,. Potion carried.
A petition for damages to be allowed..to Mrs. I.A.
Dial, for injuries alleged to have been received by-her from
the effects of a fall caused by a loose cover on a gutter cov-
ering tipping up and-throwing her upon her right arm and shoulder, I
th-*- amount asked for being $3000-00 , the above petition was
- presented by A.L.Garvey claimants attorney.
A motion was made by Alderman Alden and :seconded by
Alderman Ahlatror that there be a committee consisting of the

Ha,or and City Attorney and two Alderman, to be appointed by the
Yayor, appointed to negotiate with Mrs Dial through her attorney.
f notion 'carried. The Mayor proceeded to.appoint on the above
committee Aldermen Morris and Ahlstrom.
The matter of the purchase of a two horse` grader to
be used on the streets for leveling and filling in beside the
curbs was taken up by the Mayor, after some discussion of this
matter it was decided to lay it on the table until the next
meeting.
A motion ,ras made by Alderman Sande and seconded by
Alderman Alden that proceedings be started for a Bond issue for
the purpose of funding the outstanding City warrants, upon roll
call all Aldermen preeent'voting "aye"the motion was declared
carried.
i Thi;s being the time and place for the opening of bids
for tree construction of improvements in Special Improvement Dis-
trict No. 44, the Clerk proceeded to open bids as follows ;
bid of J.S.Evans, 811sewer 11.80 per lineal foot 6" sewer 1.70
per lineal foot, larrp holes each $35.00, this being the only bid
submitted it was referred to the `later and Sewer Committee, who
reported back as recomending that the bid be accepted, a. motion
was made by AldermanSande and seconded by Alderman Alden that the
report of the committee be adopted, that the contract be awarded 't
to J.S.Evans and that the ILayor and City Clerk enter into contract

with him for same, motion carried,
Resolution No. 185, a Resolution of intention to
create Special Improvement District No 45, of the City of Laurel.
Iviontana, -was presented and read and referred to the eater and
Sewer CoDi ittee, who after some investigation, reported back as
recomending chat the Resolution be passed, a motion -,,as made by
Alderman Sande and seconded rsy Alderman Ahlstrom that the report
of the Committee be adopted, motion carried, a motion was made b-
Alderman Sande and seconded by Al,:i rman Ahlstrom that the unani-
sous consent and vote of the Council be had to place the Resolutin
on its immediate passage, motion carried, a motion was made by
Alderrria.n Vordahl and seconded b; Alderman Alden that Resolution
No. lo5 be passed as recomended by the Committee-, upon roll call
all Aldermen present voted "aye", motion carried, and Resolution
No. 185 was dc?:cla.red regularly pas3ad and adopted.
Resolution No. 186,.a Resolution of intention to create
Special Improvement District No. 46, was presented and read, and
referred io.the Water and Sewer Committee, who reported rack as
re comendi.- that cne Resolution be passed, a motion was made' by
Alderman Ahlstrom and seconded by Alderman Vordahl that the report
of the comrr.ittee be accepted, motion carried. A motion was made by
Alderman Sande that the unanimous consent and vote: Ci_ t_,1_ Council
be had to place tree Resolution upon its immediate,passage, motion
carried, A motion was made by Alderman Sande and seconded by Aldo
r man Alden that Resolution No. 186 be passed, upon roll call all
Alden..<en present voted "aye", motion carried, and Resolution 'No.
-- 186 was declared regularly passed and adopted.

water mains on Main Street `Fourth Avenue and Fifth Av^n2'r_
as follows ; 544.1ineal feet of 8" wood pipe to'be installed 15 f
feet north of the, old, main', the same to be paid- for' out' of the
vvat'er fund, and that the Clerk proceed to advertise ,fer bider
for the doing of said work, motion ` carried.:
A motion was made by Alderman Sande and se;condcd by
Alderman Ahletrom: that we do' now adjourn, motion carried. y
