January 20th, 1920.
The City Council met in regular session in the Council
Chamber at the City Hall City of Laurel, Montana, and was
called to order at 8;30 P.M. by Mayor Davis.
The following Aldermen were present at roll call;
Morris, Kenyon, Ahletrom, Sande Gill, Knudsen and Vordahl,
Absent, Alden.. The clerk announced a quorum present,
The minutes of last meeting were read, moved by Alder-
man Ah.lstrom, seconded by Alderman Kenyon that the minutes be
approved as read, motion carried.
The Auditing committee reported on the condition of
the water books and records, stating twat as the records had
been kept on `a. card system and no cash book had been kept
and all they had to go. by was the cards showing the charges
and collections and the receipt's of the Treasurer for money
turned over to him, that it was pretty hard to arrive at
a very accurate chec$'of the years work, that there were in-
eluding rentals due for the current? quarter some $900.00
in delinquent water rentals about $400.00 being from previous
quarters and the balance being what 'was 'due on the current
quarter.However the committee filed, no written report with
'the clerk.
It was- recomended that cCualey Spencer Co be notified
that in future ther would be a minimum charge on each of the
apartments in their building and for each office and store.
Yoved by Alderman Sande, seconded by Alderman Kenyon

quent" water rentals in the next

The resignation of W,H.Gill as Alderman for the. First
hard was presented and read, 1s£toved by Alderman. Sande, secondel
b? Alderman Ahlstrom that same be accepted, motion carried.
Mr. Murray reporting on the water works proposition t
stated that he had made a careful investigation and survey
of the territory to be included and in his judgement a filtr
tration plant was the logical thing for.the Cite' at the pres-
ent time,, some time was taken up in discussion of this matter
but no definite action was taken.
Mr. Rigney stated that he had .a letter from the Engie ?
veer of the State Highway Commission, asking when the City
intended to replace the wood pipe that came under the pro-
posed paving on Main Street'. after some discussion this matter j
was laid over until the next meeting. 1
The matter of the license for soft drink parlors was
was taken up by 4r, Settergren who asked the Council to in
struct him as to whom the license Ordinance No.202 referred t
to, the Council instructed him that it referred to all soft
drink.parlors and that he was to collect same according to
the Ordinance, Mr. Settergren'also asked for instructions
as to `the,:licensing of pltabers, a motion was, made by Alder-
man Sande 'and seconded by Alderman Kenyon that Vr, Setter-
gren issssue: license to any plumber who `tenders same and can
furnish bond satisfactory to the Council.
A representative of the F.B.Connolly Co of Billings
was present to sell the City a grader, it was decided after s j
some discussion to defer this matter until such time as one
could be demonstrated on our streets.
Moved by Alderman Sande and seconded by Alderman
Kenyon that we do now `ad jourr:esd°ay ,Tanua`y 27th, 1920
Motion carried.
