Minutes of the City Council of Laurel

August 29, 1921.
The City Council of the City Of Laurel met at an
adjourned regular meeting.at the Council Chamber in the City
Rall and was called: to drder by Mayor Frank Wright at 8:00
P. M. August 29, 1921.
Upon roll call, the following aldermen answered
present,

The Clerk reported that an examination of the
County reasurerl s records showed that there were approxi- Repo rt
mately two hundred three lots on which there were `delinquent

t there had been no interest charge
in the tax levy spread for the year 1912 and only interest
enough for one installment in each year 1913 and 14. ghat T o . ?, ;
the warrants or 'bonds had been drawing interest at the rate
of six per cent f per annum for a period of twenty-one months
before the first install-ineht of interest could have been col-
lected. It would, therefore, appear that at least three
interest installments had been paid out of the funds collect-
ed for the retirement of bonds, consequently the bonds could
not be retired. It was estimated that a levy equivalent to

a sum sufficient to meet the outstanding indebtedness,

RESOLUTION NO 2 33:.
Resolution No, 2359 being a resolution levying and
assessing all the property embraced within Special Improve- Resolution
3rent District No 121 Sewer, of the City of La-arel, Montana,
for the payment of bonds and interest thereon outstanding
at this time eras .presented and read. It was moved and see- GJJ•
onded that the resolution'as read be provisionally passed
and upon roll calk all aldermen present voted Faye" and the
said resolutions as decl;-tired provisionally passed,
The Clerk presented extract from Ordinance No. 56
on the 1910 eater Bond issue of $281000.00 in which the good
faith of the City was pledged to levy six (6) mills on all Re-port of
taxable property within the City; Ordinance TIo. 57 of 1910
providing for an.'issue, of ;15,000.00 8ev:,er Bonds in which the levy
good. 'faith of the City, was pledged to levy three (3) mills on
all the taxable property within the City; Ordinance No. 130 p ? edged
of 1916 :Funding Bonds for an issue of X13,500.40- in which the
good faith of the City was pledged to levy a tax sufficient for Gn e,

(2) mills, Ordinance No. 142 of 191' providing for a agate Bond indebted
issue of 4000.00 and ; a levy pledged of two (2) mills; Ordinance

ficient to produce approximately $663.36 or approxiinately one
(1) mill levy; Resolution,No. 221 of 1921 p-r,oviding for Refund-
ing Bond issue of $42,1144.20 in which the good faith of the
City was pledged to levy a tax for the first ten years suf-
ficient to produce the sum of $2564.65 or approximately four
(4) mills, based on the 1920 valuations.
The. Blerk was instructed to draft a resolnt ion con-
tainng the foregoi obligations, a ten; (10) rill levy for gen-L1net?1ct-
oral purposes to be istributed by the cor-LrA ttee appointed at to dr ft
the previous meeting to distribute the said levy and a two (2)t= levy
