April 19th, 1921;
The City Council of the 'City of T,axrel met in regular session
at the Council Chamber of the City Hall,in the City of Laurel and
eras called to order by Mayor Davis at 8:15 P.M. At roll call. the follow

Minutes of the meetings held on April 4th and llth,1921 were read
and. on motion duly made, seconded and carried the same were approved as
read.
The Water Commissiomrle report for the month of Mari: was read
and approved.

period from January 15th to March 15th was read and on motion duly made ,Bill

seconded "and carried, the said request was disallowed. Refund
Protest of G.L. Finley of Red Lodge, Montana, against certain
charges made by the City-of Laurel for garbage hauled from his prop- Finley
erty in the City of Laurel was read and action thereon deferred until Gara-bge
the next regalar meeting of the City Council at which time Mr. Finley pro ves

The-request of the Thompson Yards Lumber Company for several loads ? n,ompson

Council it was moved and. seconded that the same be disallowed

An application signed by E. W. Snyder representing the Yellowstone E.T, Snyde
Garage Co. of Laurel, Fontana, for a lease-- of that strip of land lying
east of the City Park, West of the Hail Lumber Co. Store House on fain Lease-re_
St., was read. In discussing this- lease, it was brought out that to cue st i
date the City of Laurel had not signed: the proposed 9-9 year lease rdth
the Northern Pacific Railway Co., and was therefore not in a position ?

Attorney, this matter with a view of having the lease with the Northern
Pacific Railway Co,. signed up. Motion carried.
Mr. Charles 71ulff appeared before the Council and asked their edulf f
consideration for an adjustment on a water bill against the Lobby tla;er
Soft Drink Parlor, explaining that the charge was unusually high and
due to seepage coming in from adjacent property. It was moved and bill ad-
seconded that a committee be appointed to look into this matter with a justrnent
view of making any adjustment in order. If?otion carried. The Ida.por> f. 1
then appointed Aldermen. Voraahl; Sausman, and Bro3a= gh as such commit-
tee_.
The minority report of Alderman Sageman objecting to the salary- Fire G4ief

majority report snbmitted to the Council at the meeting of April 5thl S?l??sv
was read. The dayor then declaxed a vote thereon in order and at roll y
call the same was found to be ' as follows:
Yes--Bundy, Sausman, Vordahl.:
No -Kenyon, Morris, Knudsen, Brohaugh:, Hageman.
The majority of votes being against the alloi?rance,the 21ayor advised that
the recommendation of the majority comtnittee pertaining to the Fire Chief is
salary was disapproved.

The Clerk then read' a communication signed by certain property' Tree
owners residing along the east side of Alder Avenue advising that the Line
construction-of the proposed sidewalk district # 49,according to Cite

Ordinance would take up the present tree line and irrigation. ditch now Uo
running; along the east side of said avenue, that the Councal instruct the

City Engineer to draw up a sketch showing the exact location of the pro- ?
posed walk and establishing a tree line so that property owners along
this avenue might proceed with the planting of trees without having them

removed later on. The matter was refered,to the City Engineer who sub-
mitted the following',recommendation: I

along this street object to cutting the trees
and moving the ditch, it is recommended that
you authorize the establishment of a treet line
in this place which is 3' 911 out from the prop-

It was thereupon moved and seconded that the recommendation of the
City'En.gineer be aceppted and that he issue permits for the plant-
ing of trees along the line as shown on the sketch drawn. Lotion '
carried.
