January 4th 1921 The City Council e,? met in regular session, at the Counci_1C ham- ber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor Davis at 8 of clock P.M. At roll call the following Alderman were present:, Morris Vordahl Hageman Bundy Sau.sm€ Br ohau I The Mayor called for the minutes of the last meeting and j was informed by the Clerk that the minute book was in the City Attorney's office and that because the City Attorney was 'out of the City no minutes were available. December,1920 reports of the Chief of Police,Street Gores - i iss ion.er and the Police Judge were read and. or motion duly made d secon ed and carried, tLll of 'the said reports were approved as re-ad, affidavit was presented to the Council by J.B. Heinz lo- , cal druggist setting forth that the following described warrant issued to hip for supplies delivered to the City of Laurel had been lost or stolen and requesting the City Council to authorize and direct the City Treasurer to enter such warrant as cenncelled,and to issue another warrant in place thereof, The following i a descrip- tion of the warrant lost, to grit: i No. 4766 drawn against the eater 1 , d. Dated October 9th, 1919 in the sure of $134.05. It was moved and seconded that she City Treasur- er enter warrant #4766 as cancelled and to issue another warrant in -place thereof upon the filing by J .B, Heinz of an Indemnity Bond ilthothu City Treasurer sufficient in sum to cover the amount of the said warrant. Motion carried. I Warranty Deed of Nutting Brothers providing for the trans- fer of what is known as the Nutting Water S?rstem to the City of .laurel was readland refered by the Mayor to B.L. Price,acting city Attorn.ey,and T,A. Rign.ey,City Engin.eer,for approval as to form and assets. Upon their recommendation,it was moved and, seconded that the said deed be ` accepted and that the Clerk issue water bands in the sum of x,146,00 in payment of, the 13utting'Water System. lVot2_01a carri ed. A communication from ;mss Dr. R.C. Main of the County Health Department relative to local health conditions and ask- ing the City Council whether or not they would be interested in placing the City of hau-rel under the jurisdiction of the County Health Bepertmen.t,as provided by statute for Cities under 5000, was read and refered by the Mayor to the following committee Mayor Davis, Alderman Morris and Dr. R. Broughto n The Clerk read a request from.Harry Whi:te,C ty employee at the pus phouse,asking permission to purchase a`.small quantity of lumber for im-orovments at the uftmphou e. It was'moved and se- conded that the reaueat be granted. Motion carried. Bills filed for the month of, December were then present- ed to-, the Mayor who refered them to the Auditing Committee with direction to report back at this meeting. 1,11derman Kenyon bei3g Cooent the Mayor appointed Alderman V6rdahl to" act in his place. Tebo 27.50 1t was moved and seonded that the report of the Committee be apprOve-d and that' the Clerk be 'instructed 'to drag warrants v-Pon the :Proper funds in payment thereof. Yotion carried. - The Street Commissioner submitted a" recornaiiendation for street work to be done on the `east end of First 6treet(grading) LJ and for some :filling' in on the west end of ,_Laurel. The ?nutter was discussed for a time after which it was 'moved and seconded that the said work be indefinitely postponed. Dotion carried., ORDINANCE NO. 2?. Being an. Ordinance -o escrib'ing rules arffl regulations for the, government of the water department of the City of Laurel, 11ontanaj.an.d rates for L atex ?ervice,and' repealing all ordinances heretofore passed which -prescribed' such rules and regulations or rates for water service Baas t upon i i °st reading. It was then moved and ? seconded that the',unani ??ous consent mid vote of the Co-macil be had to place said o rairian.c e upon its immediate passage. Upon roll call all ' Alderman present voted: "'AYE," ' -It was then moved and seconded that Ordinance he - passecL and adopte d. Upon roll call all Alderman present 'voted " YEV and the said Ordinance was declared passed aid adopted. The Water Commissioner was instructed to. submit a de- tailed statement at the next regalar meeting of the Council showing in detail the delinquent mater consumersaas of that d..ate. Upon, motion duly made-seconded and carried, the dater Commissioner was instructed to bill consuz-aers monthly on and after January is t,1921 sand that he have the approval of the Council in the prosecution of all rules and regulations pertaining to the grater department. Motion carried,, G.E. Settergren,City Treasurer appea.-rea before the Coun- eil and advised that he had received from the County Treasurer :p 25, 000.00 in part payment of. 1,920 ' taxes and asked as to the dis- position thereof.
