HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 11.09.1922v Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laurel, Montana, November 9, 1922, The City Council of the City of laurel met in ad- journed regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayer Frank Wright:. &t 8.00 P. M., November 9, 1922. Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present: Vordahl Hageman Kenyon Knudsen Price Richardson L told The minutes of October 24th were read-and approved. M. too ld 6.00 It was moved and seconded that the report of the Committee be adopted and the Clerk be instructed to drag warrants upon the proper funds in payment of the bills allowed. The motion carried. A group of men appeared to have a bill of 013.25 for Bert Sullivan. for the feeding of released prisoners in Billings approved. They were instructed to present bill an proper form. Thereupon, bill for the above amount was filed, It was moved and seconded that the bill be allowed, the motion carried, The City Treasurer's report for the month of October was read and approved, The report of the Police Judge was read and after some discussion as to the amount of fines collected, the Police Judge was directed to correct his report, After the correction., it was moved and seconded that said report be approved. The motion carried. i Minutes of the City Council of Laurel The report of the Chief of Police for the month of October was read and approved. A petition from Harry Penninger for the construction of a cross walk at the intersection of Idaho Avenue and First Street was read. It was moved by Knudsen and seconded by Richardson that the request be denied -at this time. The motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 280. Resolution No. 280, being a resolution levying and assessing a tax upon all the property in Special Improvement District No. 50 of the City of Laurel, Montana, to defray the cost of making the improvements in said Special Improvement District, was presented for final passage. The Clerk produced proof of publication of notice in the Laurel Outlook and stated that no protests had been received to the passage of said resolution. It was moved by alderman Vordahl and seconded by Aldexman Knudsen that said resolution be,--"finally passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was declared finally passed and adopted. RESOLUTION NO. 281. Resolution No. 281, being a resolution levying and assessing a tax upon all the property in Special Improvement District No. 51 of the City of Laurel, Montana, to defray the cost of making the improvements in said Special Improvement District, was presented for final passage. The Clerk produced proof of publication of notice in the. Laurel Outlook and stated that no protests had been received to the passage of said resolution. It was moved by Alderman 'gold and seconded by Alderman Price that said resolution be finally passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said reso lotion was declared finally passed and adopted. This being the time set for receiving bids for the construction of improvements in Special Improvement District No. 60 of the City of Laurel for the construction of a sanitary sewer on Idaho Avenue, the Clerk was instructed to open and Lead all bide. Thereupon, the bid of Barry O'Leary, being the ' only bid submitted, was opened and read. The bid for eight- inch vitrified sewer pipe, including eight Y-branches, was $1.90 per foot. It was moved by Hageman and seconded by Vordahl that the bid be accepted and the. Mayor and City Clerk be author- ized to enter into a contract for the amount set out in the bid. The motion carried.
