of land lying south of Main Street, between First Avenue and Alder
Avenue. Mr. L, J. Watson, Right-of-way Commiss ioner, of the North-
ern Pacific appeared for the Company with Mr, Jacobus and Mr.
i Olson. The street crossings were also discussed,
After a lengthy- discussion of the questions involved,
it was thought that an understanding was had between the Rail-
way Company and the City Council. The Mayor and members of the
Council present expressed their opinion that inasmuch as the City
had obtained title to that strip of land without any cost to the
City that it would be right and proper to convey whatever right
the City might have back to the Northern Pacific Railway Company,
retaining, however, a portion of said strip at Alder Avenue of
sufficient length to permit the construction of an easy curve
connecting with the County Road.
Mr. Watson.agreed to negotiate with the Continental Oil
Company in order to have lease transferred and promised to sub-
mit an ordinance and transfer papers after he had consulted the
Railroad Attorney,
