Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
Laurel, Montana,
February 7, 1922.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber and was A0 called to order by Mayor
Frank Wright at 8:00 P. M., February 7, 1922.
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present:

The minutes of the regular meeting of January 17th were
read and approved.
The reports of. the City Treasurer, Chief of Fire Depart-
ment, Chief of Police, Police Judge, City Clerk and Water Commis-
.sioner were read and approved.
The bills for the month of January were referred to the
Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the Committee re-
commended the payment of the following bills:

The following bills were disallowed:

Farmers and Merchants Bank of Arlington, Minnesota

Davis Transfer and Storage Co.
It was moved-and seconded that the report of the Committee be
adopted and the Clerk be instructed to draw warrants upon the
proper funds in payment of the bills allowed. The motion carried.
The Clerk read a letter from the Montana Power Company
requesting information in regard to warrants which had been issued
to them in payment of electrical current furnished. The Clerk was
instructed to inform `t hem that a number of the warrants referred to
would be parable as so on as the suit pending in the District Court
was settled.

nishing of electrical current for pumping, lighting

forth in the call for bids published January 5, 192
, the Clerk
stated` that. he had received only one bid, that being that of the
Montana ;Power Company. Thereupon, he was instructed to open and

read the bid. The bid as submitted was in accordance with the
schedules approved by the Public Service Commission of Montana.

included. It, was moved and seconded that the bid be accepted and
as soon as the Montaga PoweF Company had furnished a suitable bond

City Clerk be ins'truc ed otenter into a contract in accordance
with the bid submitted. 5-I.:he.:motion carried.
Mr, Laird appeared before the Council to inquire ,if
frame buildings were prohibited in the Northwest Quarter (NW )
of Block 3, East Laurel. After an examination, of Section 245 of
the Revised Ordinances of the City of Laurel it was found that
.these lots, numbered 11 to 15, were includedlin the fire limit
and after some discussion, it was moved and seconded that the
Clerk be instructed. to issue a building permit for cottages upon
these lots and the City Attorney-'be instructed to revise the
ordinance relative thereto, excluding Lots 11 to 15 inclusive,
in Block 3, East Laurel, from the fire limit district. The motion
carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 2330
Ordinance No. 233, being an ordinance relative to the in-
stallation of service pipes, fixtures and connections from the lines
of the natural or, artifieial gas oompany to the buildings of con-
sumers and all fittings pertaining thereto, was read. After some
discussion, it was referred to the Committee on. Fire and Police who
reported back recommending the immediate passage of said ordinance.
It was moved and seconded that the report of the Committee be adopted
and that the unanimous consent and vote of the Council be had to
place Ordinance No. 233 upon its immediate passage. Upon roll call,
all Aldermen present voted "Aye". It was then moved and seconded
that Ordinance No 233 be passed and adopted and upon roll call,
all Aldermen present voted nAge% and said ordinance was declared
passed and adopted,
' Alderman Richardson inquired if license had been granted
to the occupants of the Central Rooms or rooms over "The Lobby".

meeting of January 5th to revoke license and refrain from issuing
license to occupants` of said grooming house was communicated to the
City Treasurer an& it was thought that no license had been issued
to them.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
motion carried,
