Minutes of the City Council,.

Jan. 3, 1922,
The City Council of the City of laurel met in regular
session at the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called
to order by Mayor Frank Wright at 8:00 P. M.., January 31 1922,
Upon roll call, the following aldermen answered present:

The minutes of the regular meeting of December 20th
4 were read and approved.
The reports of the Police Judge, Chief of Police.,
City Treasurer, City Clerk and. Iffater Commissioner were read
and approved.,
The bills for the month of Deceiver were 'referred to
the Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the Committee
recommended payment of the following' bins:

It was^and seconded that the report of the CQE ittee be adopted
and the Clerk be instructed... to draw warrants neon the proper funds
in payment of the bills allowed, The motion carried.
A discussion of the license fee for the telephone com-
pany was entered upon. It was moved and seconded that the corn-
plaint be not considered. until they had. Filed a written objec-
tion to the ordinance or appeared to explain their objections
to the ordinance,. The mot ion carried..,
Mr. Vordahlo having been appointed at a previous meet-
ing to interview the Board of County Commissioners in regard to
drainage of the slough west of the City, reported that he had
seen: them e_if:ice the lest regular meeting of the City Council mid
they had promised to look over the ground as soon as the County
4urveyo'r could come with them.
Reference was made to the provisions of the r?evised_
ordinances of the City of Laurel which provide for a Police
Board, It i-as moved by Alde:rman'Hagern.?i1 and seconded by Alder- ?
man Sausman that the I1ayor agpoint such a Boas d by the next
regular meeting of the Uity Counc?1• ine motion carried,
A petition was presented from. Davis Trmsfer and
Storage Company requesting privilege to erect signs on Pla in
Street. It was moved by Alderman. Vordahl and seconded by
Alderman TKriudsen that it be referred .t `c the Street and Alley
Committee, The motion carried.
H. L,, Wilson, Geo. Y1. ?iikels and C. J. Wulff were
called before the Council to testify in regard to the estab-
lishment run by Mr. Wilson in the property belonging to C. J.
Whiff. After a lengthy discussion and examination of witnesses,
it was moved and seconded that the Mayor appoint a committee
to serve with him to interview the County Attorney for the pro-
per procedure in closing the place. The motion carried, The
Mayor appointed Aldermen Ymnd.sen, Sansnan and Richardson.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn.
The motion carried,
