The Cit Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to
order by Mayor H. A. Carlisle at 8:00 P. M., September 4, 19230
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present:
Knudsen
Price
Hageman
GUW
Perry
The minutes of the regular meeting of August 21st
were read and approved.
The report of the Chief of Police was presented and
read. It was moved by Hageman and seconded by Gum that the
report be approved. The motion carried.
The Committee appointed to investigate a claim of
Sam Freund for alleged injuries on sidewalk reported recom-
mending the payment of $125.00 to avoid possibility of law suit.
It was moved by Knudsen and seconded by Perry that the report
of the committee be adopted, 'the committee discharged and the
Mayor and City Clerk be instructed to effect a settlement. The
motion carried.
Estimate No. 6 and Final for Special Improvement
District No. 53, Federal Aid Project No. 57, was presented
and read. It was moved by Hageman and adconded by Knudsen that
the estimate be approved and that the Mayor and City Clerk be
authorized to effect a settlement as soon as funds were available
from the State Highway Commission. The motion carried.
A bill for $700.83 for drainage in connection with
Special Improvement District No. 53 for Wickham Bros, and
Schwieger was presented and read. It was moved by Price and
seconded by Gum that the bill be approved with the reduction
of the interest charge to 8% and the payment of the water bill
due the water department and a satisfactory settlement for
damaged crossings. The motion carried.
A bill for $185.22 for delays in Special Improvement
District No. 53 by Wickham Bros. and Schwieger was presented
and read. It vas moved by Price and seconded by Perry that the
bill be allowed in accordance with the pre ceeding motion. The
motion carried.
W? A bill for $90.00 for drainage structures not in-
eluded in the State Engineer" s final estimate was presented and
read. It was moved by Knudsen and seconded by Gum that the bill
be allowed. The motion carried.
The bills for the month of August were presented and
were by the Mayor referred to 'the Finance Committee who retired
for audit and report on same. The Committee, after due deli.ber-
ation, reported back to the Council recommending that the follow-
ing bills be paid and that warrants be drawn upon the proper
funds in payment of the same:

The Committee further reported approval of the following bills
with the recommendation that the same be conditionally allowed

It was moved and seconded that the report of the Finance Committee
be adopted and the warrants be issued in payment in the manner
recommended by the Committee. The motion carried.
After some discussion of the funds available t o cash
warrants in the Sinking Fund, it was moved by Price and seconded
by Gum that the City Attorney and City Cle rk be instruct ed to
make application for the investment of sinking funds in water
fund warrants. The motion carried.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn; until
8:00 P. Tai., September 14, 19231 to sell water bonds. The fiotion
carried.
