The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor H. A. Carlisle at.8:00 P. Id., June 19, 1923. UTOon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present: Price Gum Ha gem an Nicola Perry The minutes of the regular meeting o:f?June 5th were read and aPProved. The Committee appointed June 5th to investigate ( and see what could be done in the. way of tiling the ' ditches on Alder Avenue repor -ea that they had been unsuccessful J ingettir_g the farmers to combine the two "'di aches . After a lengthy discussion, it was decided that inasmuch as there were no funds availaple to tile the ditch that the ditch on the east side should be supplied ii th larger culverts. 1.r. Nicola stated that he thought it would be possible to secure the timbers from the car shops. This be ing . the t ime set for rece ivir_g bias f or electrical energy, the Clerk was instructed to open the bids submitted. Thereupon, a bid from the Montana Power Company, being the only bid submitted, was opened and read. The bid submitted was compared with the old contract and found to be the same except the lighting for the City Hall which was reduced from 121 to 8,/_ per kilowatt hour. Mr. MacDonald stated that all items mentioned in regard to current were in accordance with the Public Service rules and that the price charged for maintenance of lighting posts was slightly under the actual cost for the .-oreceding year. It was moved by Price and seconded by Perry that their bid be acce-oted and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to enter into a contract with the lJontana Power Company at the prices set out as soon as said Company furnished a .$500.00 bond for said work and current. The motion carried. A petition by Dr. McCauley to have alley grade lowered on the alley between First Avenue and Montana ,F7 Avenue back of Main Street was read. it was moved b.y Price..._a d"? ecen ed by Nicola that the petition be rejected. The motion carried. The City :`ngineer stated that Mr. Laird had reryuested permission to slope the sidewalk back three feet from the curb line for the approach in the Yellow- stone Garage. It was moved and seconded that the City Engineer be instructed to design the approach for this type of approach. The motion carried. It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn until Tuesday June 26th to consider the petition for water bond issued. The motion carried. Approved this d _V__1 923. -??-? l?r?ayor , _
