Feb. `20, 1923.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
less on in the Council Chamber and was called to order at 8:00
P. Mt. February 20, 19230 by Fels Vordahl, President of the Council. _ I
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present. {I

were read and approved.
A communication from the Guernsey-blewton Company in
regard to insurance policy for the Fire' Department which expires '
March let, 1923, was read, after some discussion, it was moved ?I
and seconded that the President appoint a committee: to investi-
gate the terms of the existing -policy and report at a special
meeting to be `held February 24th at 5:00 F. M. The motion.
carried. Thereupen, the President appointed- Knudsen, Carlisle
and gageman.
Alderman Price arrived and participated in the further
actions of the Council.
This being the time set for the hearing of protests or
objections of all parties concerned against the -vacation of that
certain tract of land within the City of Laurel lying inter j acent
the Northern Pacifica Right of Way and Main Street in said City
and extending from First avenue upon the west to Alder Avenue upon
the east, the Clerk presented proof of publieation of a notice as
published in the Laurel Outlook and declared that no objections
either written or verbal had been submitted or filed. Whereupon,
it. was moved by Carlisle and seconded by Hageman that we do now
proceed to vacate the same Upon roll ball, all aldermen present
voted aye.
pRPINANCE lib. 261.
Ordinance No, 261, being an ordinance discontinuing and
vacating a certain highway and certain ;railroad corssings in the
City of Laurel, Montana, was presented and read. After some dis-
cussion, it was referred to a Committee consisting of Vordahl,
Hageman and Knudsen, After due deliberation, the Committee re-
ported back reeomrnendin.g its immediate passage. It was moved and
seconded that the report of the Committee be--adopted and that the
unanimous consent and vote of the Council be had to place
Ordinance No.'26l'upon its immediate passage. Upon roll call, all
Aldermen present voted aye. It was moved and seconded that
Ordinance No 261 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all
Aldermen. present voted aye and the said Ordinance was declared
passed and adopted.
RESOLUTION NO, 284.
Resolution No.. 284, being aresolution levying and
assessing a tax upon all the property in Special Improvement
District No. 52 of the City of Laurel, Montana, to defray the
cost of snaking the improvements in said Special Improvement
District., was presented for final passage. The Clerk produced
proof of'publ eation of notice in the Laurel Outlook and stated
that no protests 'had `been received to the passage of said
resolution. It was moved by Alderman, Richardson and• seconded. by
Alderman Knudsen that said resolution be finally passed and
adopted., Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and
said resolution was declared finally passed and adopted.,
RESOLUTION :NO:;.: 285
Resolution No, 285,-:.-,being a resolution levying and
assessing a tax upon all the property in 8peeial Improvement
District No. 58 of the City of Laurel, Montana, to defray the
cost of making the improvements in said Special Improvement
District, was presented for final `passage. The Clerk produced

that no protests had been received to the passage of said
resolution. It was moved by Alderman Carlisle; and seconded by
Alderman Hageman that said resolution be finally passed and
adopted. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said
resolution was declared finally passed and adopted.
RESOLUTION NO. 286..
Resolution No. 286, being a resolution levying and
assessing a tax upon all the property in Special Improvement
District No. 60 of the City of Laurel, Montana, to defray the
cost of making the improvements in said Special Improvement
District, was presented for final passage. The Clerk produced
proof of publication of notice in the Laurel Outlook and stated
that no protests had been received to the passage of said
resolution. It was moved by Alderman 01A±k_ wbA seconded ? y
Alderman Price that said resolution be finally. passed and adopted,
Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolu-
tion was declared finally passed and adopted.
This being the time set for receiving bids for the
'r pumping contract, the President instructed the Clerk to open and
read all bids submitted. The bids submitted were as follows,
?. J. S. Brohaugh $250.00 per Taonth
Lloyd A. Kelly $250.00
B. E. Nutting $250,00
Harry Penninger $245.00 '
It was moved and seconded that the President appoint a committee
to consider the bids submitted. Thereupon, he appointed Carlisle,
Price and Knudsen., After due deliberation, the Commitee reported
back recommending that the contract be awarded to J, S. Brohaugh.
It was moved by :Hageman and seconded by Clark that the report
of the Committee be adopted and that the Mayor and City Clerk
be authorized to enter into a contract with J. S. Brohau.gh. The
motion carried,
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
motion carried.
