The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council. Chamber in the City Hall and was alledUU order by Mayor H. A. Carlisle at 8:00 o'clock P. 1,A, December lgir, 1924. Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present; Coy Porter Wol d Graves Nicola The minutes of December 2nd were read and approved. This being the time set for the hearing of porte.sts in regard to closing that part of Second Street south of the East half of 3lock 9, East Laurel Subdivision.t the Clerk' pre- seated proof of publication of notice and reported that no protest had been filed. Thereupon, the contract, signed by Reese Price, relative thereto was presented and read. It was moved by Nicola and seconded by Coy that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute the contract. The motion carried. Thereupon, the contract was signed and executed in the presence of the City Council. ORDINANCE NO. 2801 Ordinance No. 2801 being an ordinance discontinuing, abandoning and vacating that portion o-f Second Street referred to above., was presented and read. After some discussion, it was referred to a committee consisting of Coy, Porter and. Mold. After due deliberation, the committee reported back recommending its immediate passage. It was moved by Wold.and seconded by Porter that the report of the eomnittee be adopted and -that the unanimous consent and vote of the Coanedl =be had to place Ordinance No. 280tupon its immediate passage. Upon roll call, all aldermen present voted aye. It was moved by udold and seconded by Coy that Ordinance #o,, 280 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all Aldermen pr4sent voted aye and said ordinance Was deelated passed and adopted. RESOLUTION RO.312. Resolution No, 312, being a resolution levying and assessing a special tax against property referred to in Ordinanc# W_ No. 280 for sidewalk in the City of Laurel, Montana, not included in any special improvement district, was presented and read, . After some discussion, it was moved by Coy and seconded by Nicola that sa.idresolution be provisionally passed and adopted. Upon roll call, , all aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was declared provisionally passed and adopted. A resignation of Walter Libecap as Alderman of the Second Ward was presented and read, Thereupon, it was moved and seconded that the office be declared vacant and the Council: proceed to elect a new Alderman.. The motion carried. It was moved by Told and secondee by Coy that W. E. Chamberlin be elected to the office of Alderman of the Second Ward to serve the unexpired term of Walter Libecap. The motion carried, A bill for the Montana Power Co. for 0501. ?O was pre- sented. It was moved by fold and seconded by Porter that the reales be suspended and the Clerk be authorized to issue warrant in payment of the bill, 's'he motion carried. The Water Committee reported that they had considered the ela.im of Crane Co. relative to settlement of their bill in which the. City claimed aredit for the overlap of the hub and spigot of the Mathaeon Joint Pipe and recommended that payment be made in accordance with their claim in as much: as the National Tube Cc specifications covered the point in question.. It was moved and seconded that the report of the committee be adopted 4 and that. payhent be made in accordance therewith. The motion carried ii Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laure 1, Montana, December 16, 1924. Receipt for 135,000.00 Liberty Bands, held by the Federal Reserve Bank of Helena, Montana, as bond to the City Treasurer for moneys deposited with the Midland National Bank was presented.. It 'was moved by Wold and seconded by Coy that said form of surety bond be accepted and that City Treasurer be '4athorised to release $10,000.00 "Liberty Bond- now held, The motion carried., The Clerk reported that the City Treasurer had asked instructions in regard to a cheek issued to Russell Sage for $7,x50 in payment of board for prisdnere which had be last. It was moved by Goy and seconded; by Wold that the City Treasa.rer be instructed to issue duplicate cheek. The motion carried. It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn.
