The Emergency Services Committee meeting was called to order at 6:OOpm on Monday, June 26, 2023,
by Chair Heidi Sparks
Members Present: Heidi Sparks- Chair, Iry Wilke- Vice -Chair, Richard Klose, Jodi Mackay, Jamie
Swecker, Jim Irwin
Others Present: Police Chief Stan Langve, Ambulance Director Lyndy Gurchiek, Fire Chief JW
Hopper, Troy Charbonneau- Ambulance
Public Input:
General Items
1. Approval of Emergency Services Committee minutes of May 22, 2023. Iry Wilke moved to
approve the minutes; Richard Klose seconded- Motion carried 6-0
New Business
2. Update from Emergency Departments
a. Police Chief Stan Langve- Report attached
i. Items to note:
1. 2021 was the record for most calls in a year, 2023 is on track to match or
surpass that year
2. Montana Chiefs of Police Conference- talk about how busy things are
getting at the state level and may need to start meeting annually rather
than bi-annual
3. Department is currently going through a lFew audits
4. Montana Law Enforcement Academy will be having graduation this
Friday, June 30th
b. Ambulance Director Lyndy Gurchiek- Report attached
i. Items to note:
1. Striping on "new" ambulance should be done this week and it will be in
service
2. Staffing continues to be a challenge, with both full time and volunteer
3. Completed Medicare audit
4. Had meeting with county about mutual aid and will be using the smaller
ambulance service from Help Flight, rather than America First Response
Fire Chief JW Hopper- Report attached
i. Items to note:
1. Chief Hopper had to leave early for a fire call and Jamie stepped in
2. Received a quote for a radio repeater which will be presented to Budget
Finance committee tomorrow June 27'11
3. Fireworks show will be on Tuesday for the 41n
