Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
Laurel, Montana,
December 2, 1924,
The City Council of the City of Laurel mat in regu-
lar session: in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was
called to order by Mayor H. A* Carlisle at 8: 0Q e lleloek P, m.
December 2, 1924.
Upon roll, call, the following Aldermen answered
present:

Gum
hold
Perry
Nicola
The minutes of November 18, 1924, were read and
approved,
"
The reports of the City Treasurer, Police Judge,
Chief of Police a .d Water Commissioner were read and approved,
The bills for the month. oaf NoVei ber were referred to
the Finance .Committee.. Coy being absent., the Mayor appointed-
Porter to serve in his place on the Finance Co i:ttee After
due deliberation, the committee reported back recommending
the payment of the following bills

The Committee farther reported approval of the following bills
with the recommendation that the same be conditionally allowed
and the Clerk be authorized to draw warrants upon the proper
funds in payment thereof as soon as sufficient funds &re avail-
.able for payment thereof, but not otherwise:

It'wa.s moved and seconded that the report of the eommittee. be
adopted and that the warrants be issued in the manner recom-
mended by the eommi.ttee. The motion carried.
The question of the promotion of Policeman. George
R. Lonna to the office of Chief of Police 'having arisen, the
Mayer stated it as his opinion that the appointment was duly
made at the second meeting of October. At his request, the
Clerk reported that there was no such entry in the minutes
as approved, where-apon., after a, br&,of, di.senssion, it was
moved by Gum and seconded by Perry that the appointment of
George R. Lonne having been duly made by the Mayor be now II'
approved by the Couneil, effective as of the date of November
1, 1924 # and that the 25.00 per month increase in salary
be allowed out of tnt drawn gpon the Operating Fund, provid-
ed, always-, that. the income of the said fund for the current
month., exclusive of money derived from tax levies, be suf-
fieient to pay the additional demand upon: said fund. Other-
wise,,the- said 25.00 or fraction thereof to be filed as a
claim against the present existing Police :Fund. The motion
carried.

It was moved by Fold and seconded by Nicola that
the Clerk be instructed to proceed with the publication of
notice for the vacation of the street under petition by
Reese Price, publication to be made in the Laurel Outlook
in the issue of December 3rd, fixing the date when the
Council would hear protests at the meeting of December 16th.
The motion carried.
It.was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn.
The motion carried.
