The City Council of the City of laurel met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall and was-called to order by Mayor H. A. Carlisle at 8.00 of clock P. M, July 1511 1924. Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present; Graves Porter Nicola Gum Perry told The minutes of July lst and July 2nd were read and approved. The Mayor reported that the rear tires on the fire truck needing replacing. After some discussion, it was moved and seconded that the Mayor be authorized to look into the matter and use his discretion as to replacing the tires or purchasing wheels for pneumatic tires. The motion carried. Coy arrived and participated in the further actions of the Council, RESOLUTION NO, 306. Resolution No. 306, being a resolution assessing all property for general and specific purposes, was presented and read. It was moved by Coy and seconded by Perry that said resolution be passed as read, Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was declared passed and adopted. It was moved by Coy and seconded by Gum that the City Clerk and City Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolution for Garbage, Snow, Weeds and Refuse as of last year except those lots that were refunded. The motion carried, The committee which had been appointed at a previous meeting to consider the application to have the northeast quarter of Section 16 withdrawn from the City limits reported that they objected to make such a recommendation, Thereupon, it was.moved and seconded that the petition be rejected. The motion carried, -J Mr, Nicola reported that the Northern Pacific had proposed to look the gate leading to the dump grounds if the ' City had no objections. It was moved icy gold and seconded by Perry that the Northern. Pacific be notified that there were no objections to the gates being locked, The motion carried, After some discussion as to the odors coming from the meat markets, it was moved and seconded that the--matter be 'referred to the Health Officer and City Attorney with the view of pro" hib iting, if possible, the rendering of lard in the shop.
