The City Council of the City of Laurel met in adjourned
regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was
called to order by Mayor H. A. Carlisle at 8,00 of clock P, Me
July 2, 1924,
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered
present;

The minutes of June 3rd and June 17th were read and
approved.
The reports of the City Treasurer, Police Judge and
Chief of Police were read and `approved,
The bills for the month of June were referred to the
Finance Committee, %mm and Coy being absent, the Mayor Appointed
Perry and Porter to serve in their place and after due deliberation
the Committee reported-back recommending that the following bills
be paid and that warrants be drawn upon the proper funds in payment
thereof;

The Committee further reporte d approval of the following bills
with the recommendation that the same be conditionally allowed
and that the clerk be authorized to draw warrants upon the proper
funds in payment thereof as soon as sufficient funds are available
for payment thereof, but not otherwise:

The bills Otf Crane €30, for pipe were approved and warrants to be
issued in payment thereof as soon as the Co, furnished credit
memorandum for the material purchased and the allowance Of three
inches for.eaeh joint of pipe for discrepancies in measurement,,
It was moved and seconded that the report of the committee be
adopted and that the warrants be issued in the manner recommended
by the committee, The motion carried,
Mr. Stuart Thoraaton appeared before the Council and
recommended that that portion of the city on which his farm is
located be excluded from the city boundaries. After some dis-
cussion, it was moved by Wold and see ded by Porter that a

committee of two be appointed with the Mayor to investigate and
report if there were any objections to its being excluded, The
motion carried:, Thereupon, the Mayor appointed Perry and..
Libe cap,
This being the date fixed for the hearing and passing
upon protests against the creation of Special Improvement District
No, 62, the Mayor called for protests on file. The Clerk reported
that no such protests had been -received and produced proof : of
publication and mailing of notices as required by the resolution'
of intention- whereupon, it-was moved and seconded that there
being no protests filed, that the City Council proceed to create
the said district. The motion carried.
RESOLUTION no. 305,
Resolution No, 3052 being a resolution creating Special.
Improvement District No, 62 of the pity of Laurel for the con-
struction of iron mains. designating the boundaries thereof as
defined by Resolution No, 304 and referring to said resolution,
same being the Resolution of Intention to create said district
was presented and read, After some discusion, it was referred.
to a committee consisting of gold, -Perry and Libecap who reported
back recommending the passage of'said resolution.. It was moved
and seconded that the report of the committee be adopted and that
said resolution be passed and adopted, Upon roll call, all
Aldermen present answered aye and the Mayor declared the resolution
passed and adopted,
ORDINANCE NO, 275*
.Ordinance No. 275, being an ordinance providing for the
receiving of bids and the letting of a contract for the construction
of improvements in Special I rovement District No, 62 was pre-
sented and read, After some d?cussior, it was referred to a
committee consisting of Wold, Perry and Libecap. After due de-
,liberation, the eommittee reported back recommending its im-
,mediate passage. It was moved and seconded that the report of the
committee be adopted and that the unanimous consent of the Council
be had to place Ordinance No, 275 upon its' immediate passage#
Upon roll, eall, all. Aldermen present voted aye, It was moved and
seconded that Ordinance No, 275 be passed and adopted, Upon roll
call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said ordinance was de-
Glared passed and adopted,
A petition from H, A. Bundy to have the walk and curb
line on the north side of Block 4= East Laurel Subdivision, ex-
tended-one foot north on account of the building which he pur-
chased being to near the sidewalk line to permit steps ,0 It was
moved by Wold and seconded by Porter that his petition be granted,.
The motion carried,
A oomunication from the American Bank in regard to an
insurance policy was read. It was moved by Libecap and seconded
{ by Wold that the City Clerk be authorized to have policy renewed,
The motion carried}
The City Engineer reported that construction of the
settling basin would probably begin before the next council
meeting and requested permission to hire or lease a concrete
mixer, He re orted that. Mr, Brohaaa.gh would furnish a man and 1
mixer for 64 per cubic yard and recommended the acceptacne of
the offer, It was moved by Wold and seconded 'Oy Perry that he
be empowered to lease it 4n. accordance with the provisions set
out, The motion carried,
After some discussion as to the extension and transfer
of the City Treasurer= s bond, it was moved and seconded that the
City Clerk be instructed to interview the American Bank and as-
certain if it were possible tohave bond transferred, if not, to
obtain a new bond for Miss Sturm, the incoming treasurer. The
motion carried.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn,
