HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 06.17.1924Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laurel, Montana, June 17, 19240 The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular, session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor H. A* Carlisle at 8:00 o'clock 2. M. June 17,- 1924,. Upon roll call, the following Alderman answered presents coy Libecap Perry Graves Nicola Porter Gum Wo ld The reportsof the City Treasurer and Water Commissioner were read and approved. A ll for feeding Clark Wilson, a City prisoner in the Counter Jail, as presented and read. It was moved and seconded that the City Clerk be authorized to issue a warrant upon the Operating `Fund in payment of the claim. The motion carried Mr. W. B. Stauffer, proprietor of the Yellowstone .Rooms, appeared before the Council and stated that he wished to erect a frame building for the ice manufacturing busibess adjaeent'to the rooming house. After some discussion, it was moved by Nicola and seconded by Wold that a permit be granted to him for the erection of the building. The motion carried, The Mayor stated that Turner H. Early, City Treasurer, had tendered his resignation, effective July lst, on account of his moving to Billings. It was moved by Nicola and s®c.onded by Wold that said office be declared vacant in 40cordance with his request. The motion carried. The Mayor stated that nominations for City Treasurer were now in order. Thereupon, R, E. Coy nominated Vera Sturm to fill the unexpired term. It was moved by Nicola and seconded by Coy that nominations be closed and Vera Sturm be declared elected City Treasurer. The motion carried, It was moved and seconded that the salary now paid Vera T' Sturm from the Water Department be redueted from $110.00 to $65000 per *onth, The motion carried,.
