Minutes of the City Council of Laurel

The. City Council of the City of Laurel met in regalar
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called
to order by Mayor He A,. Carlisle at 8;00 of clock Pe, Me J; me 39,
1924.

The minutes of May 20th were read and approved.;,
The reports of the Police Judge and Chief of Police
were read and approved,
The bills for the month of May were referred to the
Finance Committee and after due de i:beratione the committee
reported back recommending that the following bills be paid -
and that warrants be drawn upon the proper funds in payment
thereof

The committee further reported approval of the followin# bills
j, with recommendation that the same be conditionally allowed and
that the Clerk be authori zed to draw warrants upon the proper
funds in payment thereof as soon as sufficient funds are avail-

It was moved and seconded that the report of the commit tee be
adoptedaand that warrants be issued in payment in the manner'
mr,.
recommended by the committee. The motion carried.
l The.Clerk state d that the claims for election fees
were scattered among people who were not carrying other claims
and requested permission to pay them from the Operating Fund,
It was moved and seconded that his request be rejected, The'
motion carried.
After some discussion of the tax books, it was moved
and seconded that the City Council authorize the purchase of
the books for 1924 taxes from the LaurelOutlook at $72,00; that
payment thereof be made from the Operating Fund. The motion
carried,
It was moved and seconded that the Mayor appoint a
committee to make recommendations for the 1924 tag levy. The
motion carried. Thereupon, the Mayor appointed Coy, Libecap
and Wo ld,
The Sewer Committee, which had been requested to
examine the filter bed of the sewer system, reported that they
had looked it over, but were not ready to make a final report
and.reeommendat-ion to the Council.
A petition to have the old K, C. livery barn moved
from its present site on First Street was read again. It was
moved by Coy and seconded. by Perry that the City Attorney be
instructed to take necessary steps to have the.nuisance eliminated.
The motion carried.
The Clerk requested instructions in regard to the
publication of the City Treasurer's annual statement. It was

moved by Nicola and seconded by Graves that the report be pasted
in the Council Chamber as provided in one section of the Montana
Statutes, The motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. X04,
Resolution No, 304, being a Resolution of.Intention to create
Special Improvement District No, 62 for the purpose of laying

water mains between Montana Avenue and the west boundary line
of Lot 10 * Block 3, East Laurel Subdivision was read. After
some discussion., it was referred to the Committee on. Water who
reported back recommending the passage of said resolution, It
was moved and, seconded that the report of the Committee be
e
adopted and that the unanimous consent and vote of the Council
be had to_ place Resolution. No. 304 upon its.iMmediate passage.
Upon` roll eall, all Aldermen present voted aye, It was then
.moved and seconded that Resolution No? 304 be passed ands Y
adopted, All Aldermen present voted aye and said Resolution
No. 304 was declared passed and adopted,
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn,
The. motion carried.
