Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
Laurel, Montana,.
May 6, 1924,
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called
to order by Mayor H. A. Carlisle at 8;00 o'clock P. M. May 6 1984.
Upon roll call, the following aldermen answered present:

The minutes of April lot and April 14th were read
and approved.
The reports of the City Treasurer, Police Fudge and
dater Commissioner were read and approved,
The Mayor named the following standing eemmittees for
- the ensuing year,

The Mayor stated that it would be necessary to elect
a president of the Council. Thereupon, Ed Gum nominated 0.. M.
Wo ld. It was moved and seconded that nominations be closed
and that 0,,M, Wold be elected by acclamation. The motion carried.
It was moved and seconded that 0. M. Wold be declare d elected
president of the Council„ Upon roll call, all Aldermen present
voting aye except 0. M. Mold not voting. TheroupoA, the Mayer
declared 0. M.' Mold duly elected president of the eouneil?
The bills for the month of April were referred to the
Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the Committee
reported back recommending that the following bills be paid and
warrants drawn, upon the proper funds in payment of same;

The Committee further reported approval of the following bills
with the recommendation that the same be conditionally allowed
and the Clerk be authorized to draw warrants upon the proper
funds in payment of the same as soon as the money is available
for payment thereof, but not otherwise,

It was moved and seconded that the report of the committee be
adopted and that warrants be issed in payment in the meaner
recommended by the Committee. The motion carried.
A petition of Reese Price for the closing of that
part of Second Street between the North and South alley extended
of Block 91 East Laurel Subdivision and First Avenue was pre-
sented and read. It was moved by Wold and seconded by Gum that
the petition be referred to the Street and Alley Committee for
report at the next regular meeting of the City Council, The
motion carried,
It was moved by Mold and seconded by Perry that the
Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids on cement, gravel,
lumber and asphalt to be received at the regular meeting of the
city Council of may 20, 1924. The motion carried,
A communication from the Outlook in regard to the 1924
Tax Books was read in which they offered to print the books for
$ 72.00 cash. It was moved by Coy and seconded by Gum that an
or4er be placedwith_the Outlook for the printing of the books,
After-due deliberation, and some members feeling that further
efforts should be made to get credit on the printing of the
books, the motion lost.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn.„
