The City Council of the City of Laurel met in speoial
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called
to order by Mayor H. A. 0arlisle at 1.4.00 o' slack A. Maroh
24, 1924,
Upon roll call, the following Alderman answered
present:
Price
ferry
Knudsen
Gum
Hagem

The Mayor stated that the,meeting had been called at
the request of the Water Committee to consider the problem, of
securing sand for the settling basin.
Mr. Wold, ohairmm of the Water Committee, reported
that the somsittee had talked to pig, Cook and Bundy in regard
to sand and understood that it eould be purohased for 2*25 per
yard for screen river sand. Mr.,Weld further stated that the
Engineering Department of the Nortbe3 Paeifie had not been.
Able to get a satisfactory test from the Edgar Sand and. Gravel
pit and stated that the recommendation of the committee was to
purchase the local river sand at the price mentioned.. Thereupon,
it was moved and seconded that the report mf the committee be
adopted end that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to
purchase sand locally at a price,o f $2.25 per yard. The motion
parried,
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn.
The motion carried.
