The City Council of the City of Laurel rg-et in special
session -n the Council Chamber in the City and was called to- order
by IJayor H. A. Carlisle at 10:00 of clock A. 1J., Pebru.ary 271 1924.

The Mayor stated that the meeting had been called in
response to a reruest of the eater Committee in regard to the
beginning of construction on the settling basin and stated that
the question was open for discussion.
After deliberate discussion, it was moved by !Vold and
seconded by Price that the City proceed with the organization
of a crew of men for the construction of the settling basin by
day labor and that construction begin immediately. The motion
carried.

After some discussion of the price -paid for men and-
teams for this particular kind of %,Ork, Mr.-'Fly appeared and
offered his services at 50? ?per'hour as foreman and said that
he tir7ould be glad to furnish teams and equipment at , 50 ? -oer hour
and stated that the men could be obtained at 50d per hour.
Thereupon, it was moved by Coy and seconded by Price that lv?r.
Fly be emoloyed as foreman at 50c per hour and 50(? per hour for
teams and that he be empowered to hire other teams at 50 per
hour end men at 50V per hour; that the Mayor end City Clerk be
instructed to draw warrants weekly in payment of Services
rendered. The motion carried.
R,Ir. Glore and Mr. Chock appeared before the Council
at the request of Mr. Garvey to get -permission to sell apples
without obtaining; meddlers license. It was moved by Price and
seconded by Coy that their request be rejected. The motion
carried.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
mo Lion carried.
