The City; Cotincil of the Ci Uv of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and s*ras called
to order by liiayor H. A. Ca:r.•lisle at 10:00 o'clock r. TJI. Ilebruary
19, 1924.

The minutes. of Ilebruary 5,_ 1.924, were read and- aorroved.
TbEr. J. Lorne appeared before the Council with a sketch
oetitioning the Council to ex^tiit hin to remodel and reconstruct

Storf,?,,P,e Com-r)any and the Occident Elevator Comt?anv. It was moved
and seconded that -hermit be granted in accordance w' th the
sketch subsniti,ed. 111-le motion carried.
The coDmittee, which had been appointed at a -previous
r_aeetin to investigate the license charge to a number of business
enterprises, reported recommending the follov-ring changes; That
Section 147 of Ordinance No. 228, .Being the revised Ordinances.
of the City of Laurel, 1921, relating to blac'Ls-cRiths, be re -
vised and t'-h.at the -o rice of license for blacksmith be reduced
to 2.00 -oer quarter for such license. That Section 1'79 of the
same ordinance, relating to hotels, be revised to include 4;'3,50
aer quarter additional license for dining rooms in connection
frith hotels. That Section 180 of said Ordinance No. 2281 re-
lating to hotel runners, be re-oealed. , That ;section 194 of said
Ordinance No. 228, referring to oil stations, be reduced from
,'10.00 per quarter for license to `3.50 :oer cnaarter, That a
section be t^_rxit, en to include license for vulcanizing shops
of `}3.50 per onarter. It ?„r as m.oved by 'Told and seconded by
Coy that the report of the committee be adopted and that the
City attorney be instructed to drau suitable ordinances .in
accordance i,tiTith the committees re-oort for the next regular
greeting of the City Council. The motion carried.
The Mayor reported that the water on the zrrest end
