Laurel, Montana,
Nov. 3, 1925.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Ball and was called
to order by Mayor H. C. Knudsen at 8:00 o' clock 'P. M. November 3rd,
1925,
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present:
Gum
Chamberlin
Wo ld
Graves
Hartley
Perry
The minutes of October 6th were read and approved.
The City Treasurer's report was read._and approved.
The reports of the Police Judge and Chief of Police were read.
Auer some discussion of the reports, the Mayor requested that
the Chief of Police appear and explain the reports. 0, C.
Cooper, acting Chief of Police, appeared and after his ex-
planation, it was moved and seconded that the reports be ap-
proved. The motion carried.
Roy Wilkins appeared before the Council and requested
permission to exect a frame chicken house on the rear of the
lots occupied by his meat market. After some discussion of the
objectionable features of it, he stated that he would withdraw
his request without further argument. The matter of tallow
rendering nuisance was discussed and Mr. Wilkins stated that he
would endeavor to look into the matter before warm weather came.
The bills for the month of October were referred to
the Finance Committee. Coy being absent, the Mayor requested
Hartley to serve in his place. After due deliberation, the
committee reported back recommending the payment of the follow-
ing bills:

The Committee reported approval of the following bills with the
recommendation that same be conditionally allowed and the Clerk
be authorized to draw warrants upon the proper funds in payment
thereof as soon as sufficient funds are available for payment
thereof, but not otherwise:

It was moved and seconded that the report of the committee be
adopted and that warrants be i ssued in the manner recommended
by the committee. The motio n carried.
It was moved and seconded that the bills of John LeLacheur of
$16,00, Laurel Outlook of $25.50, 0, C. Cooper of $1.75, Sam
Freund of $5,00 and Yellowstone County of $3.28 be paid out of
the Operating Fund. The motion carried.
The Committee reported that 0. C. Cooper had filed a bill for
$155.00. The Mayor explained that they had an understanding
when he was hired that the total amount of his salary per month

would be $150.00 regardless of the number of days in a month. It
was moved and seconded that his bill be approved for $150.00. The
motion carried,
RESOLUTION NO. 325.
Resolution No, 325, being a resolution transferring
certain funds of the City of Laurel, was presented and read.
It was moved by mold and seconded by Graves that said resolution
be passed and adopted. The motion carried.
The Clerk reported that Mr. Fly said he would be willing
to collect the dog license for 50V each, providing he was paid
50V for killing those that the people wished to dispose of at the
same time. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by gold that the
City Treasurer be authorized to make this.arrangement with Mr. Fly.
The motion carried.
The Finance Committee reported that the Park City State
Bank had made another offer to secure City Deposits, offering
Liberty Bonds and School Warrants as security, also guaranteeing
to buy the school district warrants for the ensuing year at par
if the, bank was made the • depository for the City. After some
discussion, it was moved by Wold and seconded by Bartley that the
City Clerk be insturcted to ascertain from the State Examiner
if Liberty Bonds and School District No, 7 warrants of Yellow-
stone County would be satisfactory investments for City Funds.
The motion carried.
The City Clerk was instructed to notify Mr. Vordahl
that the City Council did not feel justified in closing the
railroad crossing on South First Avenue.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
motion carried.
