The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor H. C. Knudsen at 8:00 o'clock P. M., October 6, 1925. Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present: Coy Gum Wo ld Chamberlin Graves Perry Hartley The minutes of August 18th were read.,. ,,,.and approved. The reports of the City Treasurer, Chief of Police, Police Judge and Traffix Officer for the months of August and September were read and the report of the Neater Commissioner for the months of July and August was read. It was moved and seconded that the reports be approved as read. The motion carried. The bills for the month of August were referred to a committee consisting of Perry, Gum and Chamberlin and after due deliberation, the committee reported back recommending the pay- ment of the following bills: Tractor Egpmt. C. Cooper 30,00 It was moved and seconded that the report of the committee be adopted and that warrants be issued in the manner recommended by the committee. The motion carried, It was moved and seconded that the bills of John LeLacheur of $201.00, S, J. Bassett of X10.00, Sam Freund of $7,50, Laurel Auto Supply Co. of 615.50 and Hall Lumber Co. of 08.15 be.paid out of the Operating Fund. Price 41.65 It was *oved and seconded that the bills of Laurel Auto Supply Co. of $15.500 Marshall Wells of $15.68 and John LeLacheur of $181.00 be paid out of the Operating Fund. -The motion carried. A bill for the State of Montana for $150.00 and a bill for Crane Co. for $41.30 were ordered held over until next month. A letter from the Billings Clearing House Association to the City Treasurer notifying her that the Billings banks were reducing interest paid to Cities from 2 per cent. to 12 per cent. on deposits, was read. After some discussion, the Mayor requested the Finance Committee to meet with the City Treasurer to consider the placing of the funds where a better percentage,could be obtained ,and requested that they make their report et the next regular meeting of the City Council. The license question was discussed and the City Treas- urer was requested to bill all persons, firms ar corporations subject to a license and to prepare a ledger from for the keeping of the accounts in order that a suitable check-up might be made at any time. It was moved by Coy and seconded by Gum that the City Treasurer be authorized to hire a suitable person to collect the dog tax license at 50? per license. The motion carried. .A continuation of the bond of T. A. Rigney, City Clerk, Water Commissioner and City Engineer, for 05,000.00, was presented and read. It was moved by Vold and seconded by Gum that the bond be approved. The motion carried. It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn.
