Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
Laurel, Montana,
May 5, 1925.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to
order-- Ijy Mayor H, C. Knudsen at 8:00 o'clock P. M. Tuesday, May 5,
1925,
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present-

The monthly reports of the Chief of Police, Police
Judge and City T-reasur-er were read. It was moved icy Gum and
seconded by Chamberlin that the reports be approved. The motion
carried.
The armual report of the City Treasurer was read. It
was moved and seconded that the report be approved. The motion
carried,
A letter from the Security Building and Loan Association
in regard to sidewalk construction was presented and read. It was
moved by Goy and seconded by Gum that the letter be tabled, The
mot ion' carried.
A lbet it ion from Harry Perninger and A. A. LaBar for the
construction of sidewalk on three sides of Block 27, Allard Sub-
division was presented and read, It was moved and seconded that
the petition be returned for more signatures, The motion carried,
The Mayor stated that nominations for the president of
the Council would now be in order. Thereupon, R. E. Coy nomi-
nated 0. Ho told, It was moved and seconded that nominations
be closed. The motion carried. It was moved and, seconded that
O, IVI. Wold be declared elected president of the Council. The
motion carried,
The Mayor made the following appointments.
B. Lo Price, City Attorney,
T. A. Rigney, City Clerk, Dater Commissioner
and City Engineer,
Harry Sorenson, Fire Chief,
Dr. Roscoe Broughton, Health Officer,
Mrs. T. A. iii grey, bss . J. W. Long and Miss
Ruth Nutting, members of the Library Board,
It was moved by Goy and seconded by Gum that the appointments be
approved. The motion carried.
The Mayor stated that he was not ready to make the
appointment for Chief of Police o Thereupon, it was moved by
Perry and seconded by Chamberlin that the Mayor appoint a com-
mittee of one to serve with him in securing a suitable Chief of
Police. The motion carried, The Mayor named. John Hartley to
serve with him,
