The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor H. A. Carlisle at 8:00 o'clock P. M. April 79 1925, Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present; Lill Gum Chamberlin Wold Perry Graves The minute s o f February l7t h, March 3rd and larch 17th were read and approved. The reports of the Ul ty Treasurer, Chief of Police and Police Judge were read and approved. Coy, being absent, the Mayor appointed Chamberlin to assist in auditing; the bills , The bills for the month of March were then referred to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the committee rep orted back recommending the payment of the followi ng bills: City Water Dept. ? 56.13 Laurel Outlook $106.75 0. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laurel, Montana, April (, 1925. It was moved and seconded that the report of the committee be adopted and that warrants be issued in the manner recommended by the committee. The motion carried. Af#er some discussion of claims filed for 1924 election expense, it was moved by Perry and"seconded by Wold that the 1924 and 25 election expense, Geo. Bonnets bill of $80.00 and the Billings Gas Co, bill for $8.01 be paid from the Operating Fund. The motion carried. Receipt from the Federal Reserve Bank of Helena for 10,000,00 Liberty Bonds to secure deposits in the Mi land National Bank of Billings was presented. It was moved by Woldd and seconded by Perry that this form of surety be accepted for funds in said bank. The motion carried. IT. L L' RESOLUTION NO. 314. A. Resolution No. 314, being a resolution levying and ;j& assessing the property embraced within Special Improvement 644 District Noj, 62, Water, for the cost of making improvements therein, was presented for final passage. It was moved by Wold and seconded by Perry that said resolution be finally passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was declared finally passed and adopted. This being the time set for hearing protests against the creation of Special Improvement District No. 63, the Mayor called for protests on file. The protests were submitted. Thereupon,., ?the Mayor appointed a committee, consisting of Told, terry and Fri'Oxretriew the protests filed. After due delib- eration, the comm.' ee .ed ported back that the protests fil were insufficienV110 . ' °i? the creation of the district. It was moved and seconded that the report of the committee be adopted. The motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 315. Resolution No. 315, being a, resolution creating Special Improvement District No. 63 of the City of Laurel, was presented and read. It was moved by Gum and seconded by Chamberlin that said resolution be passed and adopted, Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was declared passed and adopted, RESOLUTION NO, 316. IN THE MATTER OF THE MAINTENANCE OF STATE HIG0IAYY 1- 1VIPROVEIVIENTS CONSTRUCTED WITHIN THE CITY OF LAUREL, YELLOWSTONE COUNTY, MONTANA, AND PARTICULARLY REFERRING TO THAT CERTAIN RESOLUTION PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION OF MONTANA ? ON A COPY OF WHICH RESOLUTION IS HERETO ATTACHED. , GOUNCILMAN GUM OFFERED THE FOLLDWING RESOLUTION WHICH ON MOTION DULY MADE AND CARRIED VAS :.ADOPTED COUNCILMEN OIOLD GRAVES , PERRY, GUM AND CHAMBERLIN VOTING AYE . ' WHEREAS, the State Highwas Comm.isssion of Montana, ? has resolved to assume responsibility for and to prosecute the, maintenance of Federal Aid highway improvements constructed within the several counties of the state, in conformity with certain provisions and stipulations expressly set forth in said resolution, and GMREAS, the City of Laurel, Yellowstone County, through its duly qualified and acting Council desires to avail itself of the benefits of said resolution; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED that for and on behalf of said city its City Council does hereby assent to and accept all of the provisions of said 3maalution. and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said City agrees with the State Highway Commission that it will and by this resolution hereby does appropriate and set aside the sum of Seventy-five and no/100 Dollars ($75.00) being fifty per cent. (50%) of the estimate cost of said maintenance for the following road or roads in said City, to-wit; Main Street Pavement, covered by Improvement District No, 53, Federal Aid Project No. 57, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the moneys so set aside and approprpiated, or an amount equivalent to one-half the Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laurel, Montana, April 71 1925. actual cost of such maintenance shall be paid or remitted as provided in the resolution here in .refdrred to and hereto attached. Ri gney, City Clerk City of Laurel, Yellowstone County, Montana, The City Engineer reported that the temprorary connection made during the storm to prevent water from backing up in the storm suer was insufficient to carry the full stream of water to the river. It was moved by Told and seconded by Graves that the Mayor b4 instructed to oo-operate with the County Commissioners and Railway Company in making. a permanent { outlet, The motion carried. It was moved by Graves and seconded by Chamberlin,;' that the Mayor have published his proclamation of the mineral cleanup week for the week ending April 25th. The motion carried, It was moved and seconded that the City Clerk be instructed to publish notice in the laurel Outlook that the City Council would receive bids for hauling garbage at the regular meeting of April- 21st.
