February 3, 1925.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Udall and was called
to order by Mayor H. A. Carlisle at 8;00 P. Ian. February 31 1925.
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present:
Coy

Chamberlin
Perry
Graves
Nicola.
The minutes of the regular meeting of January 20th
and the adjourned mee ting of. January 21st and special meeting
of January 28th were read and approved.
The monthly reports o -L-' the City Treasurer Chief of
,
Police and Police Judge were read. It was moved by Perry and
seconded by Graves that the reports be approved and filed. The
motion carried.
The bills f or the month of January were re ferred to
the Finance Committee and after- due deliberation, the committee
reported back recommending the payment of the follo wing bills:

It was further recommended that the following bills be allowed
upon the Operating Fund:

The Committee reported approval of the following bills with
the recommendation that same be conditionally allowed and the
Clerk be authorized to draw warrants upon the proper funds in
payment thereof as soon as sufficient funds are available for
payment thereof, but not otherwise:

It was moved by Coy and seconded by Perry that the report of the
Committee be adopted and that warrants be issued in the manner
recommended by the committee. The motion carried.
Bond of 420,000,00 for the Midland National Bank in
the form of a receipt for Liberty Bonds held by the Federal
Reserve Bank of Helena was presented and read. It was moved
by Coy and seconded by Nicola that the bond be approved. The
motion carried.
Attention was called to the item in the Treasurer's
report in which the Fund Accounts shows $26,96 more than the

cash on hand. It was moved by Coy and seconded by Nicola that
a resolution be drawn charging this amount off in order that
the City Treasurer might have her books balance monthly. The
motion carried,
The Mayor reported the pneumatic tires for the fire
track had arrived and suggested that chains be purchased for
them. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Graves that the
Tulayor be empowered to purchase chains. The motion carried,
The Committee on fire and Police who had been re-
quested to make a recommendation in regard to the bonds of
Police Judge and Chief of Police reported recommending that
the judges bond be fixed at 4250.00 and the chief of police
X500.00. It was moved and seconded that the report of the
committee be approved and the City Attorney be instructed to
prepare suitable ordinance for passage at the next regular
meeting of the City Council. The motion carried.
The Water Commissioner reported that there was a
water bill against Ethel VVhitham for X36.61 and asked if the
amount should be charged off or an attempt made to collect it
„I as someone had made application for water at that place. It
was moved by Coy and seconded by Chamberlin that the Water
Commissioner be instructed to make further investigation be-
fore action was taken. The motion carried.
It was reported that John Jackson, Tim Reardon and
Fred Lindaner had requested permission to put in a wood cul-
vert on the west side of the County goad or street at the
section corner between. 9 and 10 and 15 and 16. After some dis-
cussion as to the merits of a wood or concrete box, it was moved
by Coy and seconded by Porter that the City Engineer be instructed
to investigate and report to the City Council. The motion carried.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
motion carried.
