The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to
orde r by Mayor H. A. Carlis le at 8: 00 o x ele ck P . M. January 2 a f
1925.
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present;

The mina s of January Sth were read and approved,
The following letter to the State Examiner in re-
ap ons a to his report of January 2nd was presented and read:

Dear Sir:
Pursuant to your instructions in your report of
January 2, 1925, addr6ased to the City C®uneil
of the City of Laurel, the following actions !
have been taken:
Your report has been entered upon the minutes {

as directed,

Action has been taken to provide for the bond-
ing of Police Judge and Chief of Police.
The City Council bas ordered that no debts be 1
incurred on funds tbat, bane been ex uste d
except those required by law, such as State
Examiner's fee and contracts existing.
Your attention is called to your report of
April 27, 1922, in which a material `decrease
has been mde in the floating indebtedness,
The irregalari.ties referred to in your report
will be corrected and a strenuous effort made
to prevent their recurrence.

It was moved and seconded that the letter be signed and

Layer and all Cauncilmen present signnd the letter.
This being the time set for receiving bids for the
pumping unit, the Clerk was instructed to open and, read all

It was moved and seconded that the bias be referred to the
Water Committee for their consideration. The motion carried.
After due deliberation, the Committee reported back requesting
further time to compare bids and stated that they beli.eve.d that
they could arrive at a d.eci.sion by 4:30 I'. M. the following day.
It was moved and seconded that the report of the Committee be
adopted. The motion carried.
A report from the Water Committee relative to the
combination of City and Rgrthern. Pacific pumping plants was
read. It was moved and seconded that the City aceppt<the
pioposition as outlined Mr, Blum's letter of November 21,
1924. The motion carried,

A letter from the Midland National Bank requesting
a reduction in their bond was presented and read. It was
moved by Coy and seconded by Perry that the City Treasurer
be instructed that the City Council would approve bonds in
the amount of $20,000.00 in lieu of the existing bonds of
359000,00, provided, however, that the amount be sufficient
to cover all deppsits in that bank. The motion carried.

It was mov6d and seconded that we do now adjourn until
Wednesday, January 21st at 4=30 T?, M. to finally decide on the
pump unit to be purchased, . The motion carried.
