The City.Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayer H,. C, Knudsen at 8:00 of clock P. M. August 3, 1926 ..Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present Vor Bahl Graves ?f i Perry Guth Coy Chamberlin The minutes of duly 20th were read and approved. The report, of the City Treasurer was presented and read. It.was moved by Coy and seconded by Gum that the report be a?ppzroved...: The motion carried. The report of the Police Judge was presented and reed. It was moved. by boy and seconded by Gum. that the report be ap- proved, she motion carried. ..The report of the.. Police Officer was presented and read. It was moved by .Graves and seconded by Coy that the report be approved. The motion carried, u The bills for the month of July were referred to the I Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the committee l reported back recommending the payment of the following bills: City Water Dept, ? 21,98. Graves 6.00 II It was moved and seconded that the report of the committee be accepted and that warrants be issued in the manner recommended by the committee. The motion carried. h l It was moved and seconded that the bills of City Water Dept, for $10..62., Laurel Outlook for X16,00, Vera Sturm For $50.00, Qi.ilico Bros., for $17,25 and V. A. Lechner for $60,00 be paid out of the Operating Fund, The motion carried. The Clerk reported that Mrs. Xurrock stated that-the number given her by. the Clerk for her house in Block 111 Laurel Realty. Subdivision did not compare with the number on the "Fire i ? Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laurel, Montana, August 3, 1926, Map and requested that some action be taken, The Clerk was in- structed to notify her that the Council did not feel justified in changing the Ordinances to conform with the Fire Map, This 'being the time set for receing bids for the im- provements in Special Improvement District No. 64, the Clerk was instructed to open and read all bids, J, id. Carter was the only bidder, his bid was as follows; Excavation $1,50 per cubic yard Overhaul er cubic yard, for each 100 linear yard hauled 4p Ian and team per hour $1.00 1- inch rock 42.00 per cubic yard in place 4 inch rock $2.25 per cubic yard in place ,The Mayor appointed a committee consisting of Coy, yVordahl and y pe? to investigate and make recommendation on the bid submitted. After due deliberation, the committee reported back recommending that the contract be awarded to J. Isl., Carter for ? inch gravel. It was moved and seconded that the report of the committee be adopted. The motion carried. It was moved by Ferry and seconded by Graves that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute a contract with J. Y. Carter, she motion carried. The Clerk reported that the Fire Departement had selected Walt Snyder as, their Fire Chief subject to the approval of the Mayor. Thereupon, the 1,11ayor appointed ,halt Snyder to that office. it was moved by Coy and seconded by Gum that the ' appoint- ment be 4pproved.
