Minutes of the City Council of Laurel

June 1, 1926:
The City Counc it of the City -of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber and was called to order by Mayor
H. C. Knudsen at 8:00 o'clock P. IVIT. June 19 1926.
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present:
Coy
Gum
Chamberlin
Porter
V or dahl
Perry
Har tl ey
The minutes of May 19th were "read and approved,
The report of the City Treasurer was read and approved.
The report of the acting Chief of Police was read and
approved.
The report of the Police Fudge was read, It was moved
and seconded that hi- repor t be -returned for correction along with
the previous month and the Treasurer be instructed to hold his
cheek until all corrections were made in his reports,- The motion
carried.
The committee, ap pointed to investigate the license
of Bert Sherrow, filed a wr itten report recommending the payment
of $5.00 per quarter for se cond hand store and that th is be the
only license collected at t his times It was moved by Coy and
seconded by Chamberlin that the report of the committe e be accepted
and that the City Treasurer be authorized to make sett lement in ;
accordance therewith. The motion carried,
The bills for the
month of May were referred i
to the
Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the comm ittee
reported.back recommending the payment of the followin g bills;

The Committee reported appr oval of the following bills with the
.recommendation that same be -conditionally allowed and the Clerk
be authorized to draw warrants upon the proper funds in payment
thereof as Soon as sufficie nt funds are a-gailable for payment
thereof , but not otherwise

It was moved and seconded that, the report of the committee be
adopted and that warrants be issued in the manner recommended
by the committee, The motion carried.
It was moved and seconded that the bills of American Surety Co,
for 440,00, Wiggenhorn Bros,.for $17.84, Vera Sturm for $50.00
and Laurel Auto Supply Co for x`32.55 be paid out of the Operating
Fund, The motion carried.
A request from J. B. Heinz for ayment of bills filed
previously and approved in the amount of M.75 was presented,
After some discussion, it was moved by Perry and seconded by Gum
that the City Attorney be authorized to make settlement with the
Heinz Drug Co.,,, exchanging his bill of X21.75 for the balance due
on 1925 license. The motion carried.
A trust receipt to the City Treasurer for $20,000.00
was presented by the Yellowstone Bank for approval as to form.
It was moved by Coy and seconded by Gum that this form of bond
be approved. The motion carried.
The City Treasurer reported that the Laurel Auto Supply
Co. was lehind with its license, It was moved by Coy and Seconded
by Hartley that all checks and warrants be held until final settle-
ment be made. The motion carried,
RESOLUTION NO. 329,
Resolution No. 329, being a resolution of Intention to
create::;Special Improvement District No, 64 of the City of Laurel,
Montana, was presented and read, It was moved by Coy and seconded
by Chamberlin that said resolution be passed and adopted. Upon
roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was
declared passed and adopted.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
motion carried,
