Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
Laurel, Montana,
May 4, 1926.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in. the City Hall and was called to
older by Mayor H. C. Knudsen at 8:00 of clock P. IUD. May 4 1926,
Upoh roll call, the following Aldermen answered present;
Coy
Porter
Gum
Chamberlin
Perry
Vordahl
Graves
Hart ley
The minutes of April 20th were read and approved.
The report of the City Treasurer for the mont# of
April and the Annual Report for the year ending April 30th
were read and approved.
The report of the Police Officer was read and approved.
The report of the eater Commissioner for the month of
March was read and approved.
The report of the Police Judge for the month of April
was read and referred ba0k for correction.
The bills for the month of April were referred to the
Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the committee
reported back recommending the payment of the following bills;

The Committee repor ted approval o f the following bills with; the
recommendation that same be conditionally allowed and the Clerk
be authorized to dr aw warrants up on the proper funds in payment
thereof as soon as sufficient funds are available for payment
thereof, but not ot herwise:

It was moved and seconded that the report of the committee be
adopted.and that warrants Sae issued in the manner recommended
by the committee,. The motion carried.
It was moved and seconded that the bills of Verne Johnson for
0-86:,53, Wm. Fly for $4,00 and Vera Sturm for $50,40 be paid out
of the Operating Fund. The motion carried,
It was moved by Coy and seconded by Gum that the Annual.
Report of the City Treasurer be posted in the City Hall and not
published in tt.e newspaper. The motion carried.
Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
Laurel, Montana,
May 4, 1926:
RESOLUTION NO. 328.
Resolution No, 328, being a resolution levying and
assessing a tax upon all property in Special' Improvement Dis-
trict Teo ? 63 of the City of Laurel, was read. It was moved
by Coy and seconded by Perry that said resolution be provisionally
passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted
ape and said resolution was declared provisionally passed and
adopted.
The Mayor announced that it would be necessary to
elected a president of the Council and stated that nominations
were now in order. Thereupon, R. E. Coy was nominated by Geo,
Graves. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Perry that
nominations be closed and that R. E. Goy be elected. President
of the Council by acclamation, The motion carried,
There being one vacancy upon the Library Board, the
Mayor appointed Mrs. IJIS B. Speckeen as a member of the Board.
It was moved by Coy and seconded by Chamberlin that the ap-
pointment be approved. The motion carried,
The Mayor made the following appointments on standing
committees for the ensuing yea*--. FINANCE-Coy, Graves, Guth,
LIGHT & WATER-Perry, Chamberlin, V o rdahl .
STREET & ALLEY-Coy, Hartley, Chamberlin,
SE TIER-Porter, Gum., Hartley.
FIRE & POLICE-Coy, Perry,?Vmrdahl,
PARKS--Gum, Porter, Graves,
Mr. Heinz appeared before the Council and requested
the Mayor and City. Council to defer action upon the appointment
of a traffic officer in order that they might be able to have a
representation of the business men to appear before'thern, There.-
upoh, the Mayor stated that they were willing to defer action
until the next meeting.

The Mayor requested the Finance Committee to begin
work on the tax resolutions in order that they: might be presented
at an_- early meeting.
It was moved .and seconded that we do now adjourn, The
motion carried.
