The City council of the- City of Laurel met in regui,ar
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was, cared
to order by Mayor H. C Knudsen at 8:00 o'clock P M. January 19,
1926.
Upon roll call; the following Aldermen answered present,

The minutes of January 5, 1926, were read and approved.
The corrected report of the Police Judge for the month
of December, 1925, was read and approved.
The committee that had been requested to investigate
the proposition of the City extending the water services to the
.
meter reported recommending that this practice be continued, but
that a profit of about twenty-five per cent. be added to.`cost
It was moved and seconded that the report of the committee be
adopted. The motion carried.
The committee that had been requested to report on the.
license presented ordinances showing changes as recommended in
_their last report. After some discuss ion, the Mayor `referred it
to a-., m=ince :consisting of Gum., Wold and Hartley, The commit-
tee retirees t the' ?e?s affi ee aclafter due deliberation,
reported back requesting further time far 'the consideration of
the changes in licenses.. It was moved and seconded that their
request be granted. The motion carried.
A Trust Receipt in the amount of 20,000.00, held by
the National Bank -of the RepxLblic of Chicago for' the guarantee
of funds on deposit in the Security Trust and Savings Bank,
Billings, was presented and read. It was moved by Wold and
seconded by Gum that this receipt be approved as a bond for
such funds. The motion carried.
A plumber's bond of $1,000400 for the Laurel Trading
Company was presented and read. It was moved by Fold and
seconded by Hartley that the bond be approved. The motion
carried.
The City Engineer reported that a preliminary survey
and tentative estimate had been made for the South Side s9wer
system. It was moved by Mold and seconded by Gum that the City
Engineer be instructed to complete estimate and finish the sur-
vey without any additional expense, The motion carried..
The question of buying a water tank for the delivery
of water was discussed, The Mayor requested the standing water
zlbutaittee to investigate and make their recommendation at the
next 'regu.lar meeting of the City Council,
The City Treasurer appeared before the Council and
requested that same arrangement be made to pay all of her salary
in cash,: Thereupon, the City Attorney and City Clerk t'tere?iri-
structed to meet with her and devise some means of doing it.
Harry Sorenson, representing the Laurel Auto Supply
Company, appeared and requested that some arrangement be made
to pay part of the amount due him for storage and expense on the
fire truck. He was informed that the Council would snake a
earnest effort to provide some means of taking care of it.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
motion carried.
