The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by 11ayor dames Kucera at 8:00 o clock P. M. August 2, 1927. Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present; Porter Chamberlin Gum Vordahl Perm Hartley Graves The minutes of duly 19th were read and approved. The Mayor stated that nominations for an. Alderman from the First Ward to fill the vacancy occured by the:irresingation of R. E. Coy would now be in order, Thereupon, J. F. Webber was nominated by Porter. It was moved by Gum and seconded by Vordahl that nominations be closed and that J. F, Webber be elected by acclamation to the office of Alderman from the first Ward, The motion carried. The report of the Police Fudge was read. It was moved by Gum.and seconded by Hartley that the report be approved, - The motion carri ed. The report of the Police Officer was read. it wasnaoved by Chamberlin and seconded by Gum that the report ObeNapproved. The motion carried. Mr. J. F. Webber appeared and took the oath of office and took part in the further deliberations of the Council, The City Treasurer's report was presented and read. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Graves that the report be approved.. The motion carried. The Water Commissioner=s report was presented and read. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Porter that the report be &tproved, The motion carried. The committee on Fire and Police recommended that the City's share of the paid police officer be increased to 43,15,00. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Vordahl that their 're- commendation be accepted.. The motion carried, The Finance Committee recommended that Miss Sturm's salary be increased to $125.04 and that the 10000 increase be paid from the Operating Fund, It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Gum that the recommendation be accepted. The motion carried, The bills for the month of July were referred to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation., the committee reported back recommending the payment of the following bills, Montana Power Co $629,32 Laurel Trading Co, 43,55 Laurel. The motion carried* It was moved by Ferry and seconded by Chamberlin that the bills of Laurel 0ttlook for @51,00, Quilico Bros. for X20.75 Vera Sturm for $50.00, E. Z. Fenton for 0.50 and Herbert Bailey for $17,00 be paid out of the operating Fund. The motion carried; . , oontinuation of the bond of T. A. Riga.ey, City Clerk, City Engineer and Water Commissioner, in the amount of $5000.00 by the Maryland Casualty Company, No, 85439, was presented and- read.. Tt'-Evas moved by Graves and seconded by Gum that the bond be accepted. The motion carried. The Committee on fire and Police reported that it would cast between. 045.00 and 150,00 to wire the siren and they ;were requested to have their recommendation ready by next meeting. After a ,discussion of Gea.. ghe€lrerls delinquent water bill and the seep water in his basement,...it was. moved by ferry and seconded .by Vordahl that the Water Commissioner be instructed to, give him a five days notice -on his delinquent bill and to d.is- continne service if he refused to pay, the motion carried, The City Clerk was instructed to bill B. D. Shaffer for use of mower at the rate of $1.0.0 per hoar. It was moved by-Perry and seconded by Vordahl that we do now adjourn, The motion carrie.d0 _C k Approved this day of ?I 4 ATTEST* ? mayor.
