July 19 , 1927.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and Was called to
order by Mayor James Kucera at 8-00 oTclack p. M July 199 1927,
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered.present,
Gram
Chamberlin.
ferry
vordahl
Hartley
Graves
The minutes of July 5th were read and approved.
. The City Treasurer=s annual report was read o It was
moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Perry that the report' be ap-
proved. The motion carried,
RESOLUTION AO. "41.
Resolution No. 941, being a resolution levying and
assessing a special tax against certain designated property for
the removal of Garirage, Snow, steeds and refuse, was presented
for final passage, The Clerk pr ofteed proof of publication in,3he
laurel 00l.ook and informed the City Council that no protects had.
been r'e'ceived, It was moved by Alderman Hartley and seconded by
Alderman. Gum that final passage and approval of said resolution be
made. Upon toll call., all Aldermen present voted aye, Thereupon
the Mayor declared said resolution No. 341 finally passed.' and
adopted.
RESOLUTION NO. 342,

Resolution No. 342, being a resolution levying and
assessing. all of the property embraced within Special Improve-
ment fighting DWairict No. l of the City of Laurel, Montana, with
Three-fonrtba of the entire cost of maintenance and electric
current for the year 192'7,: was presented for final passage. The
Clerk profteed proof of publication in the Laurel Outtl&ok and
informed the City. Council that no protests had been received, It
was moved by Alderman Perry and seconded: by Alderman Gum that
final passage and approval of said resolution be made. Upon roll.
call, all Aldermen present voted aye. Thereupon, the Mayor de-
Blared said resolution No, 342 finally passed and adopted.
RESOLUTION NO, 343,
Resolution No, 343, being a resolution levying and
assessing all.of the property embraced within Special Impqrove_-
ment Lighting District No, 2 of the City of Laurel, Montana,
with Three-fourths of the entire cost of maintenance and electric
current for the year 1927, was presented for final passage. The
Clerk produced proof of publication in the Laurel; Outlook and
informed the City Council that no protests had been received. It
was moved by Alderman` Hartley and seconded by Alderman. Chamberlin
that final passage and approval of,-said resolution be made. Upon
roll call, all Aldermen present -voted aye. Thereupon, the, Mayor
declared said Resolution No. 343 finally passed and adopted,
RESOLUTION NO. 345.
Resolution. No, 345, being a resolution levying and
assessing a tax upon all property in Special Improvement District
No, 64 of the City o f Laurel, Montana, to defray the cost of
making improvements in said Special Improvement District, was
presented for final passage. The clerk produced prod' of pub
lication in the Laurel Outlook and informed the City` Council that
no protests had been received. It was moved by Alderman Perry
and seconded by Alderman. Hartley that final passage and approval
of said resolution be made,. Upon tall call, all Aldermen present
voted aye:. Thereupon, the Mayor declared said Resolution No 345.
finally passed and adopted.

RESOLUTION NO. 346,
Resolution No. 3469 being a resolution creating
Special Improvement District No. 65 of the City of. Laurel, was
presented and read. It was moved by Gum and seconded by Perry
that said resolution be passed. Upon roll call, all Aldermen
present voted aye and said resolution was declared passed.
RESOLUTION NO. 347.
Resolution No 347 , being a resolution creating
Special Improvement District No. 66 of the City of Laurel, was
presentee and read. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Gum
that said resolution be passed. Upon roll call, all Aldermen
present voted aye and said resolution was declared pass#d
ORDINANCE 10. 288.
Ordinance No, 288, being an ordinance providing for
the reeeivl-Ag ?gfobids and letting of a contract for the con-
struction of improvements in Special Improvement District No 65,
was presented End read. After some discussion it was referred
to t1 Committee on Streets and Alleys} After due deliberation,
the committee reported back recommending its immediate passage..
It was moved by Graves and seconded by Perry that the report of
the committee be adopted and that the unanimous consent and vote
of the Council be had to place Ordinance No. 288 upon its im-
mediate passage. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted
aye. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Graves that said
Ordinance No 288 _be passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all
Aldermen present voted-aye and said Ordinance was declared
passed and adopted.
ORDINANCE NO. 2890
Ordinance No. 289, being an ordinance providing for
the receiving of bids and letting of a contract for the coon-
struction of improvements in Special Improvement District No. 609 .
was presented and read. After some.. discussion, it was referred
to the Committee on Streets and Alleys After due deliberation",
the committee reported back recommending its immediate passage.
It was moved by Graves and seconded-by Perry that the report of
the committee be adopted and. that the unanimous consent and vote
of the Council be: had to place Ordinance. No. 289 upon its im-
mediate passage, Upon roll call, all aldermen present voted aye.
it was moved by ferry and seconded by Chamberlin that said
Ordinance No. 289 be passed and adopted, Upon roll cull, all
Aldermen present voted aye and said Ordinance was declared
passed and adopted.
The resignation of R. E. Coy, Councilman from the First
ward, was presented and read, It was moved by Chamberlin and
seconded by Hartley that his resignation be accepted, The motion
carried.
The Mayor stated that his resignation had left the office
of President of the Council vacant and that no
were in
order for the'--election of President of the 00un6i3. Thereupon,
C. E, Perry was nominated by Gum. It was moved by Gum and seconded
by graves that nominations be closed and that C. E. Perry be
elected by acclamation.. Upon roll call, all Aldermen voted aye
and C. E ferry was declared elected President of the Council.
The Mayor announced the following changes in the standing
committees;
FINANCE: Graves, Gum, Chamberlin,
STREET'AND ALLEY; Vordahl, Hartley, Chamberlin.
The contract for the storage of the fire truck with
Quilico Brothers was presented and read. It was moved by Hartley
and seconded by Chamberlin that the contract be approved. The
motion carried.
The matter of connecting the fire siren was discussed
j and the committee on Fire and Police was requested to have an
v. estimate for connection switches, etc.
After some discussion of leaks in the distribution
system, it was moved by Hartley and seconded by Graves that the

Water Commiasner be instructed to get prices on pressure
reducing valves and make an estimate on installation. The
motion carried.
It was moved by Perry and seconded by Gum that we do
now adjourn. The motion carried,
