The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Iivlayor James Kucera at 8-.00 o'clock P. M. June 7, 1927. i Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present: Coy Porter Gum Chamberlin Perry Vox dahl Graves Hartley she minutes of May 17th were read and approved. The report of the Police Judge was read. It-was moved by Coy and seconded by Gtn that the report be approved. The moticrL carried. The report of the City Treasurer was presented and read. It was moved by Gum and seconded by Coy that the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Water Commissioner was read. It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Porter that the report be approved. The motion carried. The Policeman was granted additional time for filing a report, The Street and Alley Committee was given additional time to consider gravelling and tractor for .power, A petition from Joe Bourne tor,---erect a corrugated iron roof over his motor to his ice plant was presented and read, It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Coy that the petition be granted. The motion carried. The bills for the month of Iday were referred to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the committee re'- ported back recommending the payment of the following bills: J. L. L Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laur e , Montana, June 7, 19 27 It was moved by Goy and seconded by Graves that the report of the committee be accepted and that warrants be issued in the manner, recommended by the committee. The motion carried. It was moved by Goy and seconded by. Graves that the bills of Vera Sturm for $50,00, Paul Brohaugh for $5.00, R. J. Williams for $5100, Quilico Brothers for 15,00 and Julius Pierce Fire Department Supply Company fol $85.10 be paid out of the Operating Fund.. The motion carried, The Water Commissioner requested permission to use from one to two grains of alum per gallon in the water during the high water stage. It was moved by Coy - and seconded by Porter that his ? xeQuest be -ranted. The motion carried. The Sewer Commissioner stated that the Occident Elevator Company wished t o .connect a d.rai.ii to the old water main for 'the ;purpose of draining their pit. It was moved by Cosy and seconded by Gum that the permit be granted and the regular $13.00 i.n ppetion fee be charged. The motion carried. Hartley and Graves reported their finding of their in- vestigation of the drainage problem in Blocks 1., 2 and 15 of NuttirW Subdivision. Yx. Hartley recommended that a. ditch be Mowed along the north City Limits in order to convey the water beyond the east City Limits. Mr. Graves stated that he though the cut would be too deep-across Ju#dper Avenue to make a satisfactory drain, The question was referred to the City Engineer with instructions to report at the next meeting. .s En Fortedthat Grant Smith Com anyhad i The Gity. gz•neer.re- P a car of gravel loaded that was intended for sidewalk purposes. and found unfit for that and had offered the car of thirty-five yards at 54per yard.. It was moved by Coy and seconded by Perry that the Engineer be instructed to purchase the car. The motion carried. The matter of constructing a fence along the west line of the City Dump Graound was discussed. It was moved by Coy and seconded: by Graves that "the matter be tabled. The motion carried. 'Tt was reported that boys were climbing the water tower. - It was moved by Coy and seconded by Hartley that the water com- mittee investigate .d make their recommendations at the next meeting for the most feasible way of keeping them away from the tank. The motion carried. After some discussion of the old automobiles scattered about the town, it was moved by Coy and seconded by Perry that the City Clerk be authorized to get Mr. Cloyd to remove them if possible..
