The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session irs the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor R. E. Coy at 8;00 o'clock P. M. April 5, 1927. Upon roll call, the following aldermen answered present; Porter Baird Chamberlin Gum Perry Hartley Graves The minutes of March 15th were read and approved. The City Treasurer's report was presented and read. It l' it was moved by Gum and seconded by Perry that the report be approved. The motion carried. The Policeman's report was presented and read. It was moved by Gum and seconded by Laird that the report be approved. The motion carried.- Th.e Police Judge's report was presented and read. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Hartley that the report be approved. The motion carried. The Water Commissioner's report was presented and read. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Gum that-the report be ap- proved. The motion carried. The Mayor asked for a report from the Street and Alley Committee in regard to culverts. They requested further time to make their report, and it was granted. Mr. W, 0. Baker filed a petition for the erection of a 12,000 gallon gasoline storage tank at the rear of the Arro Filling Station, ninety feet south of Main Street and forty-five feet west of Holmes Lumber Company Yard. He stated that the tank was a standard tjtpe of tank as used in other cities. ;After some discussion, it was moved by Perry and seconded by Chamberlin that 1 the permit be granted. The motion carried. lm a The Mayor reported that he had had an interview with the County Commissioners and that they had stated that they would be willing to furnish gravel at cost which would not exceed $1.00 per cubic yard, to be applied on trunk line streets or streets upon which the farmers ka.d to haul their beets and reported that further negotiations should be carried on after they have their plant in operation near the City. A petition for the gravelling of First avenue between First Street and North City Limits was presented. It was moved by Gum and seconded by Laird that the petition be tabled for further information. The motion carried, 1 {li A petition for the gravelling of a part of Main Sheet was presented. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Porter that the petition be tabled in like manner. The motion carried., A Trust Receipt for. .,0,_000,04from the Federal Reserve Bank of Helena, No. 176 to secure deposits of the City in the Midland National Bank of Billings,- was presented and read. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Graves that this receipt be k f o approved.as surety for deposits in the Midland National Ban µ- Billings, Montana. The motion carried. The matter of buying shade trees for the pump house arxi jail premises was discussed, It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Porter that the matter be referred to the Water Committee with authority to purchase the trees, if ` they saw fit, The motion carried. The Mayor reported that the Laurel Trading Company had requested permission to stucco two sides of their building, It was moved by Gum and seconded by Perry that a permit be granted for the improvement. The motion carried. l It was moved by Perry and seconded by Hartley that the week beginning April 18th be designated as a clean up week and the Mayor be instructed to issue a proclamation relative thereto. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laurel, Montaria, April 5, 19270 The Clerk was instructed to publish notice in the paper calling attention to the provision of the Ordinance relative to people pe rmitting' fowls to run at large. It was moved by Graves and seconded by Hartley that the City Board of.Health be instructed to make a review of the City. The motion carried.
