The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the .Coun.cil Chamber in the City Hall and was called to
order by Mayor R. E-. Coy at. 8:00 oI clock 2. M, March 15, 1927,
Upon .roll call, the following Aldermen answered present.
Porter
Laird
Chamberlin.
Gum
Vordahl
Perry
Graves
Hartle
The minutes of March lot .were read. It was moved by.
t Gum and seconded by ferry that the minutes be approved as `read.
The motion carried.
The rater Commissioner's report for the month of
January was presented and read. It was moved by Perry and
seconded by Porter that. the report be approved. The motion
carried.

The .street and AlleyCommittee reported, raeommending
the placing of culverts on the following streets: One at the
corner of Main Street and Fourth Avenue ; om at the intersection
of Railroad Street and Fifth Avenue; one at Pennsylvania Avenue
and lour th Street.; six on fur land Avenue one at the East end
of Third Street.. .After some discussion, 'it was moved by Voraahl
and seconded by Graves that this repo. tabled. until the newt
meeting of the City Council. The motion carried.
After some discussion of the crossing at the corner of
Third Street and Sixth Avenue, it was moved by Perry and seconded
by Porter that the City, furnish. timbers in order that Mr., Bennett,
might put : in the ereesing The motion carried..
Mr. Hartley, chairman of the Street and A ley Committee,,
e de. on Sixth avenue south of Third Street
reported that the

was in very bad condition and recommended that that pert that
could. not be repaired. be torn out, It was moved by Chamberlin, -
and seconded by Gum that the Street Commissioner be so instructed.
The motion carried,
The Water Committee reported their investigation of :the
breaking of the plate glass window in the pool hall by gravel. and
recommended the rejection or refusal of the City to repair the,
window. It was moved by Gum and seeonded.by Porter that the
report of the Committee be :adopted. The motion carried.
The matter of delinquent licenses was discussed,, It -
was moved by Perry an d seconded :by Hartley that the City Attorney,

be instructed to proceed at once to collectall 1 �. t
from danagy 1, 1925 , to January 1, 1927, including the list as
follows: Laurel Milling Co. $28 00, D. H. McCauley $2.8.00, Strand
Theatre 30,00, Laurel Bakery $21.00, E. E. Cale $160CQ, C,
Cloyd $2840. The motion carried.
Alderman Hartley brought up the matter of delinuent

waterer rentals and the Mayor instructed the Clerk to furnish names
and amount of all that were delinquent as much as 10 001, Thor on eup, .,
the Water Commissioner read'the following names and amounts: Strand

moved by Hartley and seconded by, Vord:ahl that the Water Commissioner
be instructed to collect all of these accounts by April 1st or dis-
continue service to them, The mot ion carried.

Water Committee be instructed to investigate and make a report
at the next meeting of the City Council,'.. The motion carried.
A report of the Fire Chief was read in which he re-
quested some new supplies including new 1- inch hose, a 2� inch
Siamese connection with gates along with other accessories necessary
for the department, also recommended that the department be fur-
nished with an insurance policy provides for in Section 412 of
the Revised Ordinances, It was moved by Graves and seconded by
Gum that the matter be referred to the Committee on Fire and
Police and the City Clerk be instructed to get "prices on these
materials from. two _,oT more houses. The motion. carried.
A communication from the Yellowstone Bank was presented
and read in which -they requested permission to change from liberty
Bonds to Treasury Certificates. It was moved by uordahl and
seconded by Perry 'that this request be tabled until the bank had
filed a receipt for the Treasury--Pertificates. The motion carried.
It was moved by Perry and seconded by Porter that the
following named places be designated as voting places for the
ensuing election:
First Ward..- Paul Brohaugh residence.
Second Ward City Hall.
Third Ward- Piggly Wiggly Grocery store.
Fourth Ward- Perry and Tubman store.
The motion carried.
It was moved ferry and seconded by :Porter that the
following be appointed Judges and Clerk of Election:
First Ward:
Judges Paul. B. Brohaugh, Clara Brohaugh, Ellen M.
Hall
Clerks- J. H. Crutcher, Ida L. Miller.
Second Ward:
Judges- Ivtinnie Miller, Nellie G. Click, Lorena V.

Third Ward:
Judges- B. J . Berger , Belle McFadden, Ida Lonne.

The motion carried.
It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Chamberlin that
the City Clerk be instructed to make application to the Northern,
Pacific Railway Company for permission for the Public Interest
Club to erect a bandstand in the park. The motion carried.
It was moved by Perry and seconded by Porter that the
Street and Alley Committee be instructed to investigate the gravel
situation and to buy one -or two cars if, in their judgement, they
saw fit. The motion carried,
