J The Bit Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was- called' to order by Mayor James Hucera at 8:00 01clock P. Mo September is, 192$. Upon thl3 call, the following Aldermen answdred present; Perry Gum. C; Chambe rl in Hartley Vordahl The minutes of September 4th were read and approved. .Mr. B111 Penton appeared before the Council and requested the privilege of p3wo"g_:a no parking sign in front of the post office. After some discussion, it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Perry that the City Council reserve the space directly in front of-the post office and TheatteoBuilding, the sign furnished by the owner. The motion carried. . Mr. M. W. Smith appeared before the Council to get an answer in regard. to the City assisting him in constructing new l sidewalk. The Street `and Alley Committee reported that they did not see any way to assist him. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hartley that the Street and Alley committee, Mayor hnd City Attorney interview the Counter Commissioners in order to have them open p drains along the west city limits, The motion carried. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Perry that the street Commiss-Dner be instructed to open up ditch along the east side of the Old re.I:tate Bank and remove bolts in sidewalk in front of the old garage now ocampi.ed. by J. Lonne and Son., The motion carried. After some discussion of the police matters, it was moved by Vor,dahl aad seconded by Gum that we do now dispense Frith the additional police officer, The 'motion carried. A bond by Ma land Casualty Company for T. A. Rigaey, City Clerk,, Water Commissioner and City Engineer, in. the amount of 5,00000, was presented and read. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Gum that the bond be approved. The motion carried. The Mayor read a letter ffom Mr. Pennington in regard to water at the Midway Rooms, The Water Commissioner was requested ? to report on the matter. .A bill for C. E. Lyons for $79:.65 for plastering the hall way and Anderson. Motor Company for p25.23 was presented, Tt was moved by Hartley aasd seconded by Chamberlin that the rule be dis- pensed with and payment be made at this time. The motion carried, 1 A, bond for Harry Penninger'for $250,00, signed by himself and Mrs. Penninger, was offered for the fulfillment of his contract on sidewalk job. It was moved by Gum and seconded by Perry that the bond be approved. The motion ee.rried Estimate No. 1 and Final in the amount of $1100.00 for ? Harry Pennin.ger for the construction of sidew€a,lk in accordance with his contract of August 23, 1928, was presented and read. It was moved by Perry'aad seconded by Chamberlin that the Mayor aid City clerk be authorized to issue and deliver bonds in the amount of 1100,00 upon the payment to the city for engineering and incidentals, 56.30.
