HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 07.03.1928 Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laurel; Montana, July 3, 1928. i The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor James Hucera at 8:00 P. 1J. July 3, 1928. Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present; Porter Weber Gum Chamberlin Vordahl Perry Hartley Graves The minutes of June 19th were read and approved. The report of the Police Officer for the month of June was presented and read- It was moved by Graves and seconded by Gum that the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Police Judge was presented and read. It was moved by Gum and seconded by Hartley that the report be approved. The motion carried. The City Treasurer's report for the month of June was read and.approved. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Graves that the report be approved. The motion carried. The annual report of the Water Commissioner was present- ed and read. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Gum that the report be accepted. The motion carried. The bills for the month of June were referred to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the comrnittee reported back recommending the payment of the following bills Laurel Trading Co. 51.70 J. The motion carried. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Hartley that the bills of V. A. Lechner for 460.00, Montana Power Co. for $9.62, Anderson Motor Co. for $15.00, American LaFrance & Foamite Ind. Inc., for ?'11.00, Vera Sturm for $10.00, Herbert Baily for 013,00 and t Minutes of the City Council of Laurel laurel, Montana July 3, 1928 Laurel Outlook for $34.00 be paid out of the Operating Fund. The motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 349. Resolution No. 349, being a resolution levying and assessing a special tax against certain designated property for the removal of Garbage, Snow, Weeds and refuse, was presented for final passage.. The Clerk produced. proof of publication in the laurel.OUtlook and informed the City Council that no protests had been received.. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Gum that final passage and approval of said resolution be made. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye. Thereupon the Mayor declared said resolution No.. 349 finally passed and adopted. RESOLUTION NO. 350. n Resolution No. 350., being a resolution levying and Ass- essing all of the Property embraced within Special Improvement Lighting District No.. 1 of the City of Laurel, Montana, with Three= fourths of the entire cost of maintenance and electric current for the year 1928 was presented for final passage... The Clerk produced proof of publication in the Laurel Outlook and informed the City Council that no protests had been received. it was moved by Gum and seconded by Perry that final passage and approval of said resolution-be made. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye... Thereupon the Mayor declared said resolution No,. 3PO, fin- ally passed and adopted. RESOLUTION NO. 351. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye.. Thereupon the Mayor declared said resolution N.o. 351, fin- ally passed and adopted. RESOLUTION No. 354. Resolution No. 354, being a resolution Levying Taxes for General and. Speeifie Purposes for the City of Laurel, Montana, for the Fiscal year beginning July lst, 1928, was presented and read. It was moved by Gum.seconded by Graves that said resolution be passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was declared passed and adopted. The Fire and Police Committee reported that they had interviewed the Fire Chief and that he did not think it necessary to buy mor hose at this time. The Park Committee requested further time to:make their report. The City Clerk was instructed to place signs prohibiting tractors from driving on the pavement. It`was moved by Perry and seconded by Hartley that the Policeman be instructed to have all obstacles such as automobiles and tractors removed from vacant lots and streets.
