Minutes of the City Council of Laurel

The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was. called to
order by Mayor James gucera at 8:00 o'clock P. M. May 1, 19284
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present;
Porter
Weber
Chamb er lin

Graves
Hartley
The minutes of April 17th and. 21st were read and approved,
The Police Judges report was presented and read. It was
moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Weber that the report be ap-
proved. The motion carried,
The report of the Police Officer was presented and read.
It was moved by Graves and seconded by Porter that the report be
approved. The motion carried,
The report of the City Treasurer was presented and read,
It was moved by Gum End seconded by Graves that the report be a:p-
proved. The motion carried.
The report of the Water Commissioner was presented and
read, It was moved by Perry and seconded. by Gum that the report
be approved. The motion carried.
Mr. Fifield,. engineer for the Billings Bench Water
Association, appeared wi th two other members of the associati on
to discuss right of way across City. lands at the sewer filter bed.
After some discussion, the matter was referred to the Sewer C om-
mittee with instructions to met with the association, go over the
land and co-operate with the City Attorney in drafting a cont ract
which should be presente d At the next meeting.
The bills for the month of April were referred to the
Finance Committee and af ter due d eliberation, the committee r eported
back recommending the payment of the following bills.

It was moved by Perry and seconde d by Hartley that the report of the
Committee be adopted and that war rants be issued in the manne r re-
I
commended by the Committee. The motion carried.
It was moved by Perry and seconded by Hartley =that the bill of
Montana Power Co. for $4.20, Thompson Garage for 5.25 and Bil-
lings Gas too, for $1,77 be =paid, out of the Operating .Fund. The
motion carried.
The Park,-Committee reported they had made arrangements
With Mr. Bailey _to mow the lawn at the jail for $3,00 a week,
after some discussion of the cinders at the depot, it
was moved by Hartley and seconded byTorter that the Street
Commissioner be instructed to spread..two or three loads at the
depot, The motion carri-ed,
An indemnity bond in the amount of $260000 by Hartford
Accident and Indemnity Co and Effie L Cranston to indemnify the
City against loss in the matter.of lost Bond 11o, 4 and coupons in
Special Improvement District No ; 25, was presented, It was moved
by Perry and seconded by Weber that the bond be approved, The
motion carried.
A petition from B. L, Price requesting pexm s'oion to
move a 6 X 12 frame store room on Lots 19-and 20, Block 3 of East
Laurel Subdivision t-o a point 30 feet north and west, was presented
and read, It was moved by Porter and seconded by Gum that the re-
quest be granted,
A communication from T. A. Rigney, building inspector,
condemning frame building on Lot 11, Block 2, East Laurel Sub-,
division and recommending that notices provided for in Ordinances
be given. to the property owners, was read. It was moved by Hartley
and seconded by Perry that such notices be be sent and- building
declared condemned. The motion carried,
It was moved by Perry and seconded by Porter that we do
